Speculations thread...

- WBR wouldn't release another Prince/3EG album quick enough since no PR Remaster so he found an alternate way to get it distributed through TIDAL as long as with a physical independent NPG release.

- Phase 2 and Phase 3 are coming soon, as tweeted by man who made the art for HitnRun Phase 1.

- There is a new Prince (Free Urself) and 3EG album in the works.

I saw tweets about Phase 2 and 3, but nothing more yet. What are your sources?

It seems very likely we will get another Prince album, one with less electronic production focus (including Stare and the Free Urself song mentioned recently by some journalist). Album likely to be called Free Urself.

Then there was talk from Donna of second 3rdeyegirl album - remember, we saw the snippet of the orchestra in PP putting finishing touches to some track.

So, looks like a Phase 2 and 3 to come...

I do hope June is a portent for part 2.

Wasn't there also talk of a NPG album in the works back before AOC? One where Big City would find a home?

I think the Tidal move, (leaving aside the lack of 'physical gratification') is pretty much perfect at this stage.
Why?

Because it's a peer-group not a record company. So if Prince sounds a charge as he often does in brief moments, he's much more likely to follow it up and keep promises.

I think he's genuinely excited by being on Tidal. The fact that it's looking like the entire back-catalogue is being re-upped and fully under artist-control backs this up but it's also happening where P's real legacy, of influence, has and is being felt. A lot of the Tidal people have been those who have supported Prince's moves in word, deed and notes.

I think he needs a dedicated PR crew now. There's aggressive moves to be made which could see Prince and Tidal's fortunes rise and these should include a blast of stories aimed at lapsed/confused Prince freaks of old whose attention can be brought to the 'hidden' back-catalogue (like TRC) via the more general newsworthiness of Tidal.

A new artist will emerge, probably a rapper, and he will call himself Prince Tidal.

Fuck Tidal......I mean, if Prince's shit was any good nowadays he would not need fucking Tidal. Here is what Noel Gallagher from Oasis had to say about Tidal:

They were like, "We're going to fuckin' save the music business." And I'm just sitting there, thinking [imitates smoking weed] you might want to write a decent chorus for a fuckin' start. Never mind fuckin' royalties and the "power of music." Write a tune. Fuckin' start with that.
