I made my wife listen to it today while I cleaned the shower. (It was the second time I made her listen to it.) She was NOT happy. She thinks it's Prince's weakest album. For context, she REALLY liked AOA. Probably more so than any new Prince album that's been released since we got together (2001). My 4-month-old daughter pooped the first time she heard it. But today she seemed to enjoy it while she did some tummy time. My cats are indifferent.
She just had a baby and has to listen to Black Messiah 6 times a week, it's perilous to make her listen to anything. |

Yep....doing outreach with the younglings, never mind us geriatrics.

I took her to see D'Angelo about six weeks after she had our kid. It's all good. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

lust said: This album is the perfect one for this thread and question. The responses are fascinating. I played a few snippets for wifey and she was pretty positive which horrified me to be honest. For years I've played "the good stuff" and she's uninterested unless it's raspeberry beret, purple rain, cream or manic Monday. Then this pop throwaway album and suddenly she likes it. I don't know what to make of this situation to be honest. Divorce? 52 in Dec. Prince came out when I was 15 and in my Sophomore year in high school. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up. |

Divorce?
Lust should go ahead and renew their vows -- a good, Prince-loving woman is hard to find.

It's hilarious because after my friends ask about my children the next thing out of their mouths is "how is Prince?"
Like he's my brother or something....
My kids too....every family has that one uncle who's kinda but the family gatherings wouldn't be the same without him. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise. |

It's not so bad in my case but yes... eventually, if the conversation goes on long enough, my friends think of asking "how is Prince?" or "Are you still a fan?".
I don't put his music when I have company, I listen to some Prince on speakers maybe once or twice a week along with other artists. |
