Such a fun track! It really stands out as sounding nothing like his other output from the period. It almost sounds like a mixture of the Parade sound with Graffiti Bridge almost. I'm glad newer fans are finally getting to hear these! |

I totally love it, but... I mean it's happy, catchy, dynamic, cute lyrics, cool melody, that whole Princey atmosphere... And at the same time, like most of Prince's attempt at emulating electronica/house, it sounds a bit clumsy and corny. The Slaughterhouse is nonstop fire...some of the thickest funk Prince ever made from start to finish...i know that sound wasnt what was hot in the street/club/radio in 2004 or since, but well executed funk/soul/hip hop NEVER sounds outdated or gets old to me...thats why i love Stare so much, and feel an emptiness on HITNRUN | |

in fact, im halfway through Chocolate Invasion and im having the same musical epiphany...i guess i was so stuck in hiphop mode and culture at the start of the millenium that i wadnt aware of these 2002-2006 releases ...if it wasnt Camron, Dispet, JayZ, State Property, Slum Village, Nas, Pharoah Monch, or Common, i wasnt hearing it...but this shit right here?...Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse is my new favorite Prince shit... | |
