Yeah well if u'd do ur homework and checked recording dates then u'd figure it out before calling people names

Songs that were censored from 2001 on had been recorded at earlier dates, before P had the no-cursing policy, simple as that.

So yeah, if u didn't know that maybe u oughta resist the urge to create any thread on the org.

They didn't write the lyrics. Prince did. The fact that he feels the need to write the curse words is where the 'possibly retarded' trate shows up. He could easily have written something else. There have been a lot of successful songwriters that don't curse in their music, yet for Prince this seems to be a hurdle he cannot overcome. I'm not aware of a single artist that self-censors their music, after writing it.

I feel this whole no cursing policy is totally stupid, don't get me wrong. I never got it never will. But that's not the topic here.

It's a sample from Funky Drummer - which is actually Clyde Stubblefeild on the skins.

I actually dislike the use of it as it's about 20 years too late and he also states "everybody know I got a tight band" which makes no sense as it's a Prince solo track (except horns)?. although he does say "funky drummer in a cold sweat backing up my rhymes" which at least acknowledges the samples drummer.

Why should it make any difference that he later developed a 'no-cursing' policy? It makes no sense to record it with curse words, then release it, MULTIPLE TIMES with an edited curse word. He had the option to record a new lyric, or not release the song. Releasing it with an edited curse word is asinine.

I forget what track on the new HITNRUN album it is but he uses the word "ass" but censors it with an effect.

Censorship? ah yes, that is making Tidal even less desirable as far as I am concerned. Thank GOd for being an early adopter to all the fleeting distribution projects through the years - and burning multiple copies!
