Gotta love a review from someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Here is the 1st review in my country - Denmark.

Berlingske (a well respected paper),

Gives the new album HITNRUN a rather high score (4 out of 6)

Link, danish review:

^ a little strange,

the danish reviewer Mads Hendrich does not seem to be familiar with the intro to the "1999"-album... haha, pretty weird he seems to think this intro "don't worry I won't..." is new.

Oh well, everyone can't be perfect, right? lol

See what I mean about reviewers not knowing Prince or expecting the same things from him?

This is the worst thing I've ever heard from Prince. There's not a song I've heard yet that I want to hear again. That's my review.

This made me laugh - "And there are a couple questions which remain unanswered. With Prince’s exclusive deal with Tidal, can we assume that “direct-to-streaming” is the new “direct-to-video” for really bad albums?"

Ugh, he's right IMO. I cannot stand anything on this album and do not anticipate ever listening to it again.

I'd like to lock some of these supposed music critics in a car in public with the music blaring to teach them a lesson. You know a crowd would gather and mock them. Hopefully wouldn't stone them.

I mean really, I'd like for them to be seen in public listening to what they reccomend. You know damn well they don't listen to this shit at home. Why pawn it off on an innocent public?

What audience of dorks do they really think would listen to fallinginlove2night or Artificial Cage from AOA? Say what you want about the tastes of today's youth, but most are sophisticated enough to laugh out loud at such goofball dreck.

What I can't understand is who he thinks the supposed audience for his last albums are. I mean they are low brow "pop" aimed at the masses, but he aims so low. People in general have better taste than this. It's not like he is releasing sophisticated esoteric jazz here. These are dumbed down tracks aimed at an incredibly unsophisticated audience that just doesn't exist.

Then he wonders why they flop.

It doesn't surprise me that it's getting good reviews. Look at all the other horrible music that gets good reviews these days. Bullshit has been in the mainsteam so long that people have grown up with it, accepted it, and actually like it because it's all they know. Getting a good review in this day and age is an insult, not a compliment.

Andy is a four letter word.

I like the second half of the album (I think "June" is genius...no bullshit....) much better...Those first two to three tracks are not my bag...AT ALL...lol...Bits and pieces of those early joints work but it's not something I will be rocking to unlike the later tracks on HitNRun.

But let's pump the breaks on using Metacritic so early in the game...Read the fine print and you will notice that only SIX reviews are being used. Furthermore, read the AV Club review again. It doesn't match up with Metacritic's 42 rating (in fact, Pitchfork, who completely slams HitNRun much more negatively, is given a higher rating than AV....It doesn't add up, folks.)

All this to say, if you like the entire joint, bully for u.....If u think it's complete shit, that's cool too. But let's not hide behind 6 reviews to say, "SEE I TOLD Y'ALL IT SUCKS!!!!!"

Only on the Org....

U can't make any conclusion on 6 reviews....And more importantly, whether or not I think this is a mixed bag album (when it works it works...but when it doesn't it shits the bed), great or sucky, a little common sense is in order....

Again, read the original AV review and then read Pitchfork's and u will catch my drift..... Pitchfork gives HitNRun a BIG middle finger review...lol....much more negative than AV's. And yet Metacritic gives it a higher rating based on that very same Pitchfork review....It doesn't quite make sense....

Of course, If YOU think it sucks I respect that. But I don't think tagging up on 6 reviews when there are more positive reviews is shaky at best. At least wait until Metacritic gets a decent sample size going...

on metacritic you will notice that the highest score, a perfect 100 was by EW, who just happened to snag an early preview and interview with the man at Paislt Park. You scratch my back and I scratch yours.

I personally like Hardrocklover better than anything on AOA. And I still don't know why Stare which I also like isn't on this album. He teased us with the better tracks and ommits one of them, Hmmm

FUNKYNESS

It is getting good reviews because it si reviewed by young people who have been raised on crap EDM and think it sounds like what real good music should sound like. It sounds like a good time at the club - and that has nothing to do with substantial or authentic music these days
