Has anyone asked Prince why he suddenly saw the need/use/reason for a producer after producing himself for over 3 decades in a legendary hall of fame recording career? Would you be interested in hearing his answer?

Well, it's nothing new for Prince to work with people that just happen to be around no matter who talented they actually are or not.

What i would find to be interesting is the answer to why of all potential co-producers out there like Jamie Lidell, Pharrell, Dev Hynes, Chaz Bundick etc etc had to pick the worst one ?!

Nothing against a nobody, but why not a *talented* nobody with an actualy musical taste and vision ?

Welton isn't a producer he's a puppy dog. This is as far as Prince can go with having a producer, like having puppets and girlfriends is as far as he can go with producing others.

Maybe he just wanted to give somebody an opportunity? Josh ain't done a bad job by any means, even if it wasn't what many fans may have wanted. Prince often says he's got nothing to prove, so maybe this is one of those times where he shows it. I still think it's a shame that he's sang Josh's praises and given him this opportunity, only to tuck the album away on TIDAL.

I can't understand how he can do such good production with both Judith Hill & Andy Allo's albums & then let his own end up like this?!

The only people I wold want to see produce Prince - if I had to see it - are Lenny Kravitz, Sananda Maitreya, David Bowie, or maybe Marcus Miller.

Prince is a high P on the Myers Briggs J/P scale. He gets bored easily, he seems to like the constant change, constant external variety of stimulation etc.

You didnt answer the question - you simply offered your opinion. Look at the replies from the other people - they, for the most part, spoke to the question. I was probably reading before you were born so I am not the one that you want to come for on something like that. If you do want to or can not answer the question directly, we can all live with it without hostility.

You clearly do have an agenda with Prince's current output and obviously struggle with accepting people's opinions that don't agree with yours - you pretend they didn't answer your question. Not really because his answer woul probably be something like "gardens grow flowers and planting seeds in June makes lillies flourish. That is why I chose to sow my seeds in the patch where the grass is greener. That, to me, is why we push envelopes around on a desk".
