Who is The Poet 99 on Joint 2 Joint?

There was an amazing young slam poet named Jessica care Moore who won for weeks and weeks on the “Its Showtime at the Apollo” competition.

I believe she was The Poet 99 from Joint 2 Joint. Can anyone confirm this? Or am I totally off? Either way, what are Jessica/Poet 99 doing these days, if any of you have information?

Not sure, but I think it's also the Poet 99 saying 'Hold onto your wigs' on Days Of Wild.

Originally he gave her an obscure namecheck on the studio version of Days Of Wild:

"Much props to the upside-down double-six baddest freezer-burnin'make a head-turnin' baddest sister ever walkin' the face of the Earth."

Essence

I remember reading about her close links with Prince at one time, I think it was part of "Dameshe's story of a Prince Groupie" or whatever it was called. Someone will surely bring you the comprehensive word...

Yes, Essence, I read Demeshe's story as well. It was a very detailed account of Demeshe and her 2 friends as they scurried around New York City and Minneapolis trying to meet Prince. The Poet 99 was mentioned several times as Dameshe met her on numerous occasions when she (Dameshe) worked for a publishing company of Prince's in New York City. It didn't mention anything about her being featured on "It's Showtime at the Apollo", but she very well could have been.

Supposedly, Prince was a fan of her work and signed her to some sort of writing deal. He also had started construction on a cafe/spoken word spot in L.A. for 99 that never got finished. Nevertheless, the Poet 99 would go to the publishing office and often chat with Dameshe. Dameshe remembered reading some of 99's work and not understanding any of it. Dameshe described her as a "bohemian-type" in appearance and their first conversation was very odd. Dameshe made a comment innocently about Prince being a fan of 99's and this seemed to be offensive to her (99). 99's remark was a very sharp "he's a fan of my WORK." (something to that accord) Well, regardless, 99 and Prince were supposedly very close friends. 99 told Dameshe personal information such as how she (99) caught Carmen Electra at at a club with another guy and instantly called Prince and left a message saying she had something to tell him about Carmen. Prince was furious, but 99 admitted that he very blatantly cheated on Carmen with Mayte and on Mayte with Carmen. (Sending Carmen on a photo shoot in L.A. and flying Mayte in to see him on the same day and vice versa, etc.)

Another story regarding 99 that Dameshe told was of how during "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" video shooting there was a party that 99 attended with Prince. Everyone was very jealous of her because Prince obviously felt very comfortable with 99 and spoke to her more than anyone else. During the party, one of the girls in the video gave Prince a gift which he handed right to 99. 99 opened it and it was a pair of underwear. Of course, the girl was completely embarrassed. Prince and 99 thought it was pretty funny however (LOL) Prince also gave 99 a cane of his which 99 ended up leaving in the publishing office where Dameshe didn't have the nerve to steal it (LOL).

One more incident with 99 and Carmen occurred when Prince and 99 were having a conversation between the two of them with Carmen standing right there being ignored. Carmen insisted on making annoyed sounds and breathing heavily to show her irritation and 99 made some comment to the effect of "you okay honey??" that Prince found pretty funny. Carmen, of course, didn't.

The account that Dameshe gives is pretty interesting and again, very detailed and mentions a ton of run-ins with Prince related people. She no longer has it on her site (to my knowledge) but instead focuses on her belly-dancing (she is now a dancer). Dameshe has become friends with Mayte after meeting her through a mutual friend (that guy Dave). Supposedly, Dameshe suggested a restaurant for Mayte to have her mother's birthday party at and out of appreciation, Mayte invited her to attend the party.

I apologize if the information I gave regarding the Poet 99 is hard to follow. I was writing the accounts from memory only and it was a long time ago when I read Dameshe's story. It seems that her and Prince were pretty close so they might still be acquaintances.
