^ that. proof that prince's works... work. no matter how many haters bang on about his failure to promote, failure to live up to their standards of production and blah blah f@cking blah..... prince is still a success and his body of work and fortune keep growing over time. isn't that the true test of success

Good for him if that is true but no one on the Org knows exectly how he is making money right now. For all we know, he owns a chain of laundry places.

He probably owns a lot of property cuz we all know he's not making much money from record sales.

This is one time I actually have to agree with Bart. What is the source of this information? How are the numbers anyting but estimates. Prince certainly didnm't open his books to let an accounting firm calculate a true net worth and he certainly didn't generate a net $50 million increase on the strenght of the sales of his last 2 albums (you said 2 goes back one year, 3 goes back much futher than that unless you are including the pending release next week). I'm one who thinks the music lately has been very good, but it's simply not sellign well enough to generate $50 million. That's part of the frustration people have with Prince, that he could sell much more if he did some real promotion.

I couldnt' find data from last year, but in 2012, the top money makign musician made less than $40 million. THe list went to 40, and fell to $5 million by then. Prince wasn't on the list. THat year, the Beatles made under $7 million on the strength of their catalog finally being available on digital music services.

There are other ways of making money.

Prince still rakes in the money mostly due to his live performaces. His live shows mostly consists of his music during the 80's through early 90's....aka when his music sounded great! The complaints expressed by many rational folks here still stands. If I was Prince...I would pay off his due taxes...just sayin.

Considering you don't know net worth isn't just about "earning" (more like "valued at"), maybe you should sit down. Remember: none of your dire predictions of Princely financial doom over the years have happened.
