"No more hits"! I think prince only makes music 4 his fans only. As gifted as he is i believes he understands that he's of the past generation and could never produced hits 4 2days generation. Hardrocklover and stare will never get airplay nor would clubs carry it. I miss the prince that made hit after hit.

I think he makes music to please himself first and foremost. At best he likes to challenge tastes, not please the "fams". He didn't have a ton of hits, either. Just a lot of singles.

Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

^ Exactly. I remember when "Good Love" (of all songs) got constant rotation on my local pop radio station here in SC. It was awesome. Those days of "brave" radio programming are looooong gone. Radio is more formulaic now than ever. "The password is what."

Same talented brotha makin' music, as far as I'm concerned. You might be missing WB's marketing machine more than anything else . . I don't think he tries too much to please fans or the masses. I imagine he wants his music embraced by both, but I've never gotten the impression that he was willing to change his musical direction for their/our acceptance.

Come on folks, he does it all for the ladies, take the honeys out of the equation, the music stops, the live performances stop, he spends the rest of his days watching reruns of Mash on Netflix. "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

Agreed. Like Prince should be the only person who Earth to keep having hits over a career of almot 40 years.
Yeah, it would be fun if he had another. What else is there to say?

Funknroll was played at a club event that mostly played trap and hip-hop, I freaked out, I totally wasn't expecting it. And on the way to the club I heard Stare on the radio which was also surprising. It was a community radio station. This was in Western Australia in case people were wondering haha. 2 new Prince songs in one night... I was so pleased [Edited 8/27/15 1:52am]

Nonsense, the man is gasping for a hit. But he wants to do it all on his own terms, like it's still 1984.

If you are not on a major label you will not have a hit record. He is on WB and they are now the worst label around He does nothing to promote his projects so his actions are not that of an artist that wants mainstream success.

He still has plenty of hits. Albums hitting the bottom of the bargain bin. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

He never made hit after hit. Lots of singles flopped in the 80´s, people seem so forget that.

His actions have almost never been the same as those who want a hit, but for a time he still managed to have them. He might stumble onto another one, that'd be cool.

Prince had hits since I want 2 be your lover. Sexy dancer, uptown, let's work, party up, head, private joy, lady cab driver, dmdr, auto-matic, how come you don't call me anymore, delirious, free, and the purple rain album. Not 2 mention the time. Just 2 name a few

It's kinda been like that since the 90's. Maybe Prince will get another hit if it's featured in a movie.
