cborgman said: god, i am torn : musically, i wanna say high, lyrically, i wanna say average, and those DAMN VOICE OVERS make me wanna say low
i guess my vote is average AGREE The music is insanely refreshing, the lyrics are cool. If it weren't for the voice overs, it would be tremendous. However, a non-Prince fan would say WTF is that? As seasoned listeners and lovers of his musical talent, we tend to bypass that and JUST LISTEN.

Its good. But I totally agree about the voice overs. I know its Prince but it creeps me out. You cant play that creepy stuff around children.

I reckon this album to rate highly against his previous work, for a few reasons.
First, it can be regarded as a statement of evolving musicianship. Its production to me is showing his few dozen years of experience. For instance, he is showing a fine taste in the thickness of the sound, using exactly apt layers of instruments for the sound to be rich and colourful, without distracting from the song itself. Also, the album has a live-feel, which, if you examine the components, is quite a challenge, with the bulk of the content being played by just two persons. I respect a person to be explicit about his religious beliefs, although I do not agree with all his statements. It shows his attitude, that he did not smoothen the message to get it across to a larger audience. And the artwork is more than decent, and that I do not see as a core quality of Prince, he has proven.

Just in case anyones still counting, I say High, despite the message.

For the record, my vote is high.
It took me a while to realise that this CD had a strange effect on me. Whenever I played it, by the time I reached the beginning of track two, I had stopped whatever I happened to be doing at the time and found myself just chilling to the sounds. I didnt realise it had this effect until I burned my dinner three days in a row. Only a high-calibre album can do that to me. ***if you cant be good - be wylde8*** *********if you cant be good - be Wylde **********
