My opinion is high. What's yours? hmm

I rate TRC HIGH!! It's a fantastic cd. I know many do not like the religious lyrics, but I am probably one of the least religious people on this site and I love TRC!!

Somewhere in between "High" and "average". Parts of it or wonderful, but I'm STILL waiting for the next Prince CD since "Sign O' the Times" that I can spin end to end, without dashing across the room for the track skip button.

I appreciated it more after hearing the live material. "Muse 2 the Pharoah", "Everlasting Now", "1+1+1 is 3", "Mellow" and "She Loves Me for Me" were beautifully performed on the last tour.

Could live without the title track. Even live it didn't grab me.

If you're forcing me into the 3 categories, than "average"...

might as well explain myself as 2 why i gave it an "average" rating:

the music's nice, but a lot of the lyrical content i could do without. i don't rate it amongst his masterpieces or what-not, it stands on its own two skinny legs. i couldn't imagine trc standin amongst stuff like sott, dirty mind or 1999. it would stick out like a sore thumb, imho.

Personally speaking, I just don't think The Truth, as an overall album, quite reaches that level of classic status that Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain or Sign 'O' The Times do. Perhaps, time will change my mind...

SOMEONE had to say it. Interesting doesn't ALWAYS mean brilliant. The first 2 trax got my hope WAY up for rest of the disc, and I like "Fascination" and "Welcome 2 the Dawn", but the CD takes a serious dip after "Don't Play Me". I loved hearing him take the acoustic approach though...

to each their own. "Hot Thing" kicks ass, especially on the SOTT movie.

HIGH of course. It's up there with the best!

I'm so glad that he restored his musical boldness and creativity together with his name! It's as if he had planned it!

Then there is ONA... Live! and Xpectation. Boy, this is too good!

Anyway: HIGH it is! fro fro fro

Some think it's beyond "interesting", some here actually think The Truth is superior to TRC. Funny, after the first two songs on The Truth I think it gets better as it goes along.
