I think Small Club is excellent, but the 1984 birthday show smokes it. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I think he was a guitar tech. I swear his name is in the Lovesexy tour book, but Im too lazy t pull it out. Make it so, Number One...

The show is only legendary because it was recorded and leaked, and we all got to hear it. I'm sure there have been HEAPS better shows. which P will have in his "collection" but................

Do photos exist from small club??

I think "Reseda" is a mistake. It was at the Palace in Hollywood which is now called Avalon

With that kind of attitude mister, you'll never be invited to a secret collector listening party.

I totally agree with that. I would even settle for a better audience recording. So many unique tracks were played during that show. I'm thankful that at least an audience recording exists but its one of the hardest ones to listen to because of the quality.

Correct, he was Prince's guitar tech and I'm sure he took photographs during the Lovesexy period too.

I picked up the original X-Records CD back when at a record fair in the UK. I wasn't looking for it and didn't know it even existed. I walked past a stall where some old bloke was playing something on his boom box. I recognised 'America' being played on guitar (Later learning it was during DMSR). I thought that sounds badass and funky. Asked him what it was and bought it on the spot.
.
It's a veritable diamond in Prince's canon. [Edited 8/20/15 16:38pm]

But it's still so great regardless of that.

Still Would Stand All Time sounds incredible - a version like that would have been one of Prince's greatest songs. So much emotion in that performance. Hundalasiliah!

Yeah deffo mate. It is a crackin show, but for me I have an O2 Indigo boot I prefer. Annoyingly I can't find it but it includes....I like it there, Johnny B Goode, Elephants n Flowers etc.

My favorites are the the first two tracks. I think that opening instrumental is one of the things I would play to impress nonfans who are musically inclined.
I do think the board mix on Housequake is pretty bad. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

And yes, it was a kickass show. (I wasn't there.) I hope this will help you find it! [Edited 8/21/15 10:32am]

Nice one, thank you. Yeah, that's it, bloody special that one....Such a well tracked show, its got an incredible middle from I like it there to Elephants and Flowers. Obsolutely epic. And it takes nothing away from the start and end. If the middles 10, the start and end are 9's.

Always loved this and was glad to buy an officially released remastered version on Google Play, when did this become an official release?

So can I assume you've never enjoyed the original Motown, Beatles, Sinatra, etc mixes. then? Man I wish I could experience the feeling again of discovering those waaay back-in-the-day acts in their original form. When I was a kid those acts were all over 50, but when I was able to go back and hear those guys in their teens and twenties, the respect factor grew for me. Stereo records used to isolate the vocal on one side, then pan the drums and other instruments to the other. And it was magic. Same with the original Berry Gordy mono mixes of Motown records... it's just beautiful. The imperfections are sometimes helpful in making art.
