What's this?

It's the original link because originally the thread was about reposting the link over and over, not discussing its content. However because the Org's interface sucks, it doesn't work, sorry.

Okay. smile But actually, the OP didn't make a clickable link. Nosajd made it clickable before a moderator and theenglishman did. Anyway nosajd's works.

iZsaZsa said: If I recall, it was said Prince had never heard the tune or couldn't recall it well enough before he was sent a copy a week before the performance to rehearse. I don't think he himself said this and there's a difference between having heard of the song and being familiar enough with it to play it. It's just one of those statements that was reported on and that was then interpreted and misinterpreted.

Yes, and there was a note to go along with that: "Dear Prince, because there are no record stores in Minneapolis, and because we know that very few musicians have the Beatles albums in their collection, we hereby send you the song. P.S. Be sure to throw the guitar strap over your hat without touching it at the end, so the people can be in awe, because this special George Harrison performance is all about you. Peace."

To be fair, you can't invite Prince to do something and not expect him to make it all about himself. That in itself is half his act. They could have had a minutes silence.

Also, if he'd come out on stage and pretended to be a lot less entertaining than he is... is that a sign of respect? "Have a good show... but not too good".

The only downside is that these are the caliber of musicians he should be working with more often, rather than his signiture star struck 20-something female vocalist.
