#1 is conjecture. Plus, I don't recall Taylor saying that "the free tier" had anything to do with her decision.
#2 is to do with Sony's business practices. This has nothing to do with P, unless there's some proof that Warners acted in the same way, which there isn't. #3 is silly. I've been a professional songwriter for over a decade and I get quarterly royalty statements. There has to be a minimum amount for them to send you a statement, plus it gets deposited directly into my bank account anyway, and always has done. I've never had a physical cheque that I had to take to the bank, and even if there was, they wouldn't bother sending one out for pennies. This guy claims to have "a drawer full of them", so maybe things are different in the USA, but suggesting that this would be a reason for Prince to pull music from streaming sites is reaching. #4 isn't a why. It simply states that he has the right to do it. Which is obvious. |

Plus the first paragraph is bullshit. "Did you know that Prince’s first album was released in 1978? That was 37 years ago! Whether you’re a fan of his music or not, it’s an incredible feat to stay relevant for 5 decades in the ultra competitive music industry." Prince has been relevant (to some) in five decades. Late 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s. Really like 3.75 decades. He has not been relevant "for 5 decades." That would mean 50+ years. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Plus Prince tweeted a different picture to go with it. Sorry guy. What?

Actually, this account reads like a thinly veiled moan from Prince's camp. Prince complains yet again that he's not getting compensated well enough for his music.
The fact is, I really don't care if a multi-millionaire has a gripe with forces that he feels is impededing him from getting more money. After two decades, you know what, it's actually become a bit of bore. Yes Prince. You're boring.
Whatever this article is, don't dress it up as news.

Maybe it's not all about him, he could be thinking of (gasp!) artists in general being treated poorly.
Plus it's equally boring to rant about how you're bored.

I'm sorry but that's just funny as hell to me, considering the fact that you are talking about the same person that won't let The Time be The Time. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

You post here constantly so I'm assuming you're not new to the Prince game. Why, then, do you talk like you've learnt nothing?

I think Prince is confused, frustrated, angry, and simply out of touch with today's music business. He doesn't know which way to go,what to support and what to protest against He wanted to be an "independent artist",releasing his own music without the help of a major company. That didn't really work out,did it? Now he seems confused about the streaming services. One day,his music is on Spotify...the next day,it's removed from Spotify and he's on Tidal instead...lol...
Remember the days when artists simply released an album, the fans bought it,and that was that?

They do not have the copyright on the name and according to Morris it was Prince that came up with the name in the first place. The band was using the name for a two decades does anyone think this about personal beef between Morris and Prince. But whatever the reason the Time is not the anymore and the fans need to get over already.

The Time is the Time--as long as it's not all of the Time and the words "Morris Day and" are stuck in the front. And it's not a recording, just a live show. I have no idea what the point of the whole thing was, since Morris is allowed to play using the name.

It seems to me like it has more to do with a personal beef between Prince , Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and if that's really the case, it's Prince that needs to get the fuck over it...already! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

. So what has he done about this (except treat other artists badly)? © Bart Van Hemelen

No. There is one reason Prince removed his music from Spotify. He has abandoned his previously held ideals and like David Chapelle, and Richard Pryor before him, has made it very clear he doesn't trust or like white people.

OK. Prove me wrong. | |

Princes past 40 years of multiculti employees band members singers proteges managers and what not prove you wrong. lolololol

The "multi-culturalism" you refer to was once a part of his makeup. I was proud to associate with him at that point. I wished there was no black or white, I wished there no more rules. He has changed. The latest in a littany of "choose your side" behavior is the move to give Shawn Carter (Tidal) exclusive access to music. No. For the record, I didn't and don't have a spotify log-in/membership, so I don't have a horse in that race. These are pure outside looking in observations. "But Savvy, he has an all-woman band and not one is black." Thank you for pointing out the exception to the rule.
Now of course I'm supposed to think he is subscribing to some "all-in" ideology. No. But he is taking swipes (and enjoying it) at ivory, because it's Ivory. Just like Chapelle, just like Pryor.

Because he can.
Of course, if he were a preschooler, it might go more like this:
Adult questioner: Prince (or Skipper, since he's still a kid), Prince.org is upset because you removed your music from Spotify. Why did you do that?
Skipper: Because I removed my music from Spotify.
Adult: But why did you remove your music from Spotify? (questioner simply looks questioning throughout the following)
Skipper: Because I did. Because I did it. Because. I did. [looks down] Because Prince.org wanted me to [brightly, as if this one will work]
