WHAT SONGS FROM THE LAST 5 YEARS WOULD YOU PLAY WITH GUESTS PRESENT?

Not necessarily in a row, but which songs would you play while having company among other songs from others?

(If the song were mostly rock)

Baltimore

Hardrocklover

Screwdriver

Let's Go Crazy Reloaded

Rock n Roll Love Affair

Anotherlove

(If I was playing mostly rnb/hip hop/ Dance)

ACG

Clouds

The Breakdown

U Know

BCW (expresso)

Funk N Roll

Sure, there are many more I'd play but those are (to me) within reasonable limts.

What about you?

Folks who come to my house know well that I'm a big Prince fan. I have without shame played AOA in full on more than one occasion - and it has received a positive response each time.

I also had Fallinlove2niye on the playlist at our Christmas party last year, and my gay buddies went nuts for it.

Edit: what's ACG?

The only Prince songs I play when I have guests are 'Sister' and 'Head', which I put on repeat for the entire duration of their visit. I'm a bit confused by the premise of this thread. Why would you play anything else?

I don't play any Prince music around ANYONE.

His music means a lot to me. The times I have played it, people always have something negative to say, and those comments offend me and stay with me.

I still remember every insult hurled at "Delirious", "Mountains", "Days of Wild", "New Position", "The Question of U".....

And I know a lot of his music from the past 10 years is bad--but it's my personal journey with the guys' music

With the exception of a few from MPLSound and P&G , Prince hsan't released anything challenging enough to be risky to play to people. It's all generally likeable and unspectacular pop/R&B music.

oh, very recognisable smile but i never play any music in my house. i think it's just distracting and

obnoxious when a radio is blaring away whilst you sit down with your guest(s) and talk. even if
it's just mid level or low level volume. unless it's some sort of elevator music.

Okay I'm intrigued, what goes down at your parties?

the worst are people who expect you to *favourably* comment on their music.

or shush you mid sentence to say "listen to this bit, this is so good".

if you're really excited about something, i'm always curious and i would like to
listen to it myself. so burn me a copy, or write down the name/artist for me to

check out at home.

or, which is also cool, just play 1 song. whilst you make a new pot of coffee or

tea or whatever, say 'listen to this man, this is my favorit right now'. i dig that.

but don't just force stuff on people by playing it a bit too loud when they are

at your house. why would anyone do that?

well, i have a friend who does it. it's always pretty fast paced edm. to loud, so

loud that you cannot ignore it. in fact, it becomes another guest lol

i've asked, on occasion if he could turn the volume down a bit, since i found it

difficult to concentrate on the conversation or the boardgames we were playing.

other guests looked at me like "oh good god, finally someone dares to speak up"

he's also the person who gets in your car, turns on your radio and then skips

through all the tracks, commenting on how each one is shit and how all those

artists are stupid or make lame music falloff god i hate people sometimes.

anyway, continue with your thread, kind people, never mind old grumpy penis over here smile
