Come on, lets show some love for Windows Phone as a mobile OS, and Windows 10 for an every-device-under-the-sun OS.

As for the music stores, I cant say because my country is blocked by all of them. So Prince being on any of them, or not, has no bearing on things over here. I wonder how aware artists are of how much of the world is blocked from these services and whether they care? Artists used to be able to sell albums in every corner of the earrth, and the likes of MJ did just that. I wonder how fewer Thriller albums wouyld have been sold if many of the third world countries were not allowed to buy it?

A valid point, but a great deal of copies of "Thriller" sold in Africa and Asia were unauthorized bootlegs, and even a lot of the ones that were official were never accounted for (shady record label practice).

I've been signed to two major labels in India, one of which was Sony, and even to this day getting proper accounting and auditing is a pain in the ass.

Michael at one point wanted to hire investigative auditors to go through Sony's files and try to find out how many unaccounted for albums of his they'd sold. No surprise that his relationship with them went to the shitter.

Looks like the entire npg/wb catalog is now available....except for one Purple Rain soundtrack. hmmm?

.

How are you all seeing the albums? I went to Apple Music, did a search, and came up with nothing.

Thanks,

Do a search for Prince, then select him as the artist. Diamonds & Pearls is under Prince and the New Power Generation, and the only way to find Around the World in a Day is by searching for that album title, which says it's under Prince and the Revolution. It's odd though, if you search for Prince and the Revolution you just get songs, the Around the world in a Day album is no where to be found. I also notice all the albums are listed as NPG Records, with exclusive license to WB.

So Prince made a deal with TIDAL?? Puts the majority of his music on Apple... Boots are now on Tidal... Debut's his new song Stare on Spotify, right after he removes his whole catalogue from Spotify...

Oh the joys of being a PRINCE fan in this day and age... lol

Right now, there's only 15 albums. And those are the actual albums, excluding "the hits/b-sides", "Very best of", "Ultimate Prince" and "Gett Off EP"

Fact is, even when he makes his catalogue available it's a mess of WB stuff riddled with mistakes (single versions on the album being the most consistent problem). He's removed his own stuff from most streaming but not the Time or Sheila E. (although just to highlight another lazy mistake, The Stick has never been available to stream [in Ireland/UK anyway] for no good reason).

I'd consider joining a different streaming service if someone was able to organise the tracks correctly and include the correct versions, edits, his independent works and various downloads that he released over the years. I don't believe it'll ever happen though.

I wish someone, whether it's Prince or whoever to tell us exactly what's going on in the Prince-World.. I know Prince wants it this way but it's just too much miscommunication with the fans! Even going back to the announced and promised "Purple Rain Remaster". Regardless if WB is the problem or if it's Prince's, there should have been someone to have the balls to tell the world "sorry, motherfuckers, shit didn't work out! It ain't gonna happen, sorry but forget it!"
That's all someone had to say..

Now going back on topic, Prince should have someone make a statement on what his actual motives are with Apple Music, and other streaming sites... Just to clear shit up.... Enough of your games, Prince! lol

This is the age of social media, and what comes with it. I'm sure if social media was a thing in the 80's, we would have gone crazy in the same way with each album release...and project scrapped.

Now would be the time for him to sue Apple for damages. With iTunes now being illegal in the UK (by allowing people to rip their own CDs). Apple are promoting, and distributing software enabling people to violate current UK copyright laws.

Yep, they have all gone from Apple Music. Pissed off with this, and no,it's not because I don't want to buy anything. I have everything this guy has ever released, and probably more that he hasn't,but the sound quality of the SOTT cd and batman cd, dirty mind and others sounded absolute crap when downloaded to iTunes, so I thought "Great, il delete them and stream them instead on my phone, because the quality is so much better for some reason". I was just lazy to try and make the cd version sound better, and I wouldn't have a clue how to anyway. Then on my way to work yesterday I thought," oh think il listen to dirty mind" and I get 'oops, looks like this isn't available anymore'. Bloody annoying.shoukd have realised though. He changed his mind more times than I change my underpants. That's 4 times this year already.

Prince isn't alone in toing and froing about streaming as indeed any musician with a brain should be.
His stated position about YouTube remains relevant and increasingly echoed in industry commentary about music streaming...meaning that analysts agree with Prince's complaint that computer companies are using music to furnish their IPOs and in the process of monetisation become much more valuable that all of the record companies they have replaced. They also tend to make those record companies look principled in hindsight.

So...Prince KNOWS he shouldn't be on streaming but his business people (and you, here) are telling him he's nobody unless he's streamable at $0.000007 per play.

I'd say to Prince "First thought, best thought"

“I don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions.”

You could always use Google Play Music All Access and upload your collection, and listen to any of your stuff any of the time. You don't even need to subscribe to be able to do that, and you can store up to 50,000 MP3s of your own. Of course if you then subscribe you can stream other stuff too, not just your own collection. No need to use Apple at all.

It works fine on Apple too. Subscriptions to Google Play Music All Access are also the same price as Apple Music as far as I know.
