Bataclan/Nighttown Instrumentals

Goddamn, these are some funky ass instrumentals.

Nighttown - Total trip out, that bass line coupled with Nato's space age sounds on the keyboard, too good.

Bataclan - Guitar playing, all bout the guitar playing. Fast, precise, awesome. And it just keeps on going. Can't forget John Blackwell though. That solo midway through, the amount of people I've played that too and gone 'This is how you drum' smile

Opinions?

The 1 at the Marquee is great 2 . Seeing Prince live at the Bataclan was a fantastic experience , he played guitar like I never seen him before.

Nighttown & Bataclan are pretty much my faves of 2002 - he really was incredible at both of those. The most unique shows he did in (aside from certain Celebration nights).

Did he threw down the "blue angel" , "habibi" or the telecaster?

Nighttown was a brilliant show...

Right from the Santanesque funky intro I knew why I always wanted to see him play a small audience.
It was well worth the whole day with the other fools waiting in line to get one of those 100 tickets available on public sale.

I even got to speak with Renato, about the gear and the amazing jazzy work he does. He also told me that Prince propably was fed up with the guitar, because he broke 4 or 5 strings that night, during the main concert and the aftershow. Hence the abrupt ending of the show with the 'guitar-flying-act'. Got his autograph, and Rhonda's as well, she's came by for a swift second.

It was his last night in Europe, so I suppose he would have enjoyed played longer than he did.

I do own a private recording of Nighttown, but I do not have one of the Bataclan show, so I can't compare the shows unfortunately.
