Now we're talkin'
1 LP will do, if I am to view this album as one of the great ones.

Replace My Computer with Soul Sanctuary and Slave with The Human Body and I'm sold.

Yeah, this rocks too...but sleep around? soul sanctuary? sex in the summer? aah, poor prince. The song I miss most is 'saviour'. Maybe a Holy River B-side?

the 'sound' of somebody's somebody introduces a mainstream element to the album, which i figure we're all trying to do away with. maybe. it's a good composition, like I said Funky alien

Personally I could easily cut "Emancipation" down into an A-side of a 7 inch single. "The Holy River" is the only song I like on it.

best song is missing , Right back Here In My Arms is one of his best songs from the 90s imo

Finally someone remembers 'right back here in my arms.' I remember I played it and played it and played it when it came out, but it did nothing for me. my bad. I like it these days. In the original 2-lp I created, where would you put it if you couldn't replace Sex in the Summer? [Edited 7/14/15 9:01am] Funky alien

if he rleeased it as a double lp ..then bitches would be complaining he didnt put on the outtakes

Not at all. "Emancipation" is pretty much the album that broke me as a fan of Prince's recorded output as out of the whole set there was only the one track I liked. I genuinely can't stand anything else on the album. Still love the guy as a live performer, and still adore the 84-88 era, and those two factors are the reason I'm still here.

^ haha, you are telling the truth.. Prince 4Ever.

hahahaha. true. then it would be a different game: what if it was a triple LP? Funky alien

can anybody come up with a fantasy single LP of 'love symbol'? Side A and Side B both under 23 mins. This is my take:
Love Symbol single LP ( ....I have too much free time on my hands!)
Side A:
1. 7 (5:13) 2. The Morning Papers (3:57) 3. Sexy M.F. (5:25) 4. Damn U (4:25) 5. Blue Light (4:38) (Total playing time: 22:58)
Side B:
1. The Continental (5:31) 2. And God Created Woman (3:18) 3. 3 Chains O' Gold (6:03) 4. The Sacrifice Of Victor (5:41) (Total playing time: 19:93. The Kirstie Alley segue before Sacrifice can be added. The biggest miss is not My name is Prince but Love 2 the 9s, a genius of a song ruined by the rap interludes).

well it was supposed to be 51 tracks...

Yeah I guess there are bits and outtakes we still haven't heard....but you know, I don't mind prince being prolific. It's just that when the LP era ended, his albums somehow seemed to lack cohesion because he could fit more songs into each release. If all the material released in the past 20-odd years was broken down into stylized 9 or 10 track albums like Come or Old Friends, there would not only be more albums -- there would be better ones because each album would have more cohesion. In 1997, a friend of mine and I had a debate on what would make a great single CD version of Emancipation. It took hours but we got it down to a 79 minute disc. I wish I had the track listing.

Yup, tossing out the covers does make it easier, although i quite like betcha and la la la, they shouldn't have made it to the LP. Funky alien
