Princevault on drugs

From princevault:

"Back In Time is the eleventh and final track on Judith Hill's debut album Back In Time, which was first made available as a free download on 23 March, 2015. The track comprises of a half-second of silence. Prince explained at an album preview that Hill told him she wanted to record an album like Sly And The Family Stone; the title track to their 1971 album There's A Riot Goin' On was also a silent track and was listed on the album sleeve as 0:00 long. No writing credits are given for the track, but in keeping with the album, it is treated here as being written by Judith Hill (this will be corrected as and when more information is known - [Yes, who knows, Prince might in fact have co-composed it lol ]). Prince produced the track. While specific recording dates are not known, it is assumed to have been recorded in January or February, 2015, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. [I wonder if it was recorded in a single take or if it involved a lot of overdubs, though lol ]"

.

What Princevault fails to mention, though, is that the track is, in fact, an edit of "Segue" from Rave:

"Segue is the fourth track on Prince's 23rd album Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. The track is comprised of four seconds of silence."

.

And to make things more complicated, "Segue" was itself an edit of the 38 versions of the untitled silence that comprised tracks 11 to 48 of Newpower Soul:

"Tracks 11-47 are silent tracks, 0:05 each, and track 48 is also silent, with a length of 0:44."

.

It was also reworked for TRC:

"tracks 15-19 are silent tracks of 0:04, and track 20 a silent track of 0:08."

.

This proves that Judith Hill CAN NOT be the composer of Out Of Time, as she was not around in 1998-99, and the track should therefore be credited to Prince. Princevault also credit judith as playing oin the track:

'Recording Personnel

Judith Hill - silence

Prince - silence"

...but in fact this, also, is erronous, since again Judith Hill couldn't possibly have been involved in the 1998 recording nor the 1999 edit.

.

I'm glad I've made this important discovery biggrin biggrin biggrin

I read somewhere it was originally Wendy and Lisa's composition. Another example of Prince not giving the credit

V10LETBLUES

There was a band that released an albums worth of blank tracks to Spotify and encouraged it's fans to stream it on repeat every night. They reportedly reaped over 20 grand off of Spotify before it was shut down by Spotify. The band made enough to mount a tour off their ploy.

"Back in Time" is based on the original recording of Wally--they went back and recorded analog, using the original tapes, made some minor lyric changes to make it more relevant to Judith Hill's life. New vocals were recorded, and then Prince just hit record and there you go!

.

The various pieces databank mentioned are actually just interpolations, mostly re-performed but occasionally sampled. But the basic tracks are from Wally.

That track isn't silence. It's actually a killer funk jam at a frequency only cats can hear. My cats say it's Prince's best funk since Sexy MF.

I always thought Prince might have written 'silence', even though some think it sounds nothing like him.
