Check out the film 20 Feet From Stardom it is a documentary about background singers of the past and today. Judith Hill is even in it, it's on Netflix totally worth watching.

Probaby have not listened to it in years purposely. Came on Devil's Night Radio (Best Dive Jukebox Radio) real loud the other day and I was like "Damn - this song has so many great things about it". Super hooky, guitar, cheeky lyrics etc. Probably need to go back and spin all of Sign again.

I made a one disc version of "Emancipation" a few weeks ago, and I think I've played this version of it more than I've played the full album since its release! I've always felt that as a whole, Emancipation was a mess, but that there was also a great album buried in there somewhere.
