I searched this up because I was curious what they would claim his 'crime' was, but the article was exactly what you said it was in your title: clickbait. Prince was not present in any of the slides.
I think they used that pic of Prince to promote because he's well-known, and to someone who's not a diehard, that picture looks very real and would be surprising to see. It would cause people to check the article out to see which heinous 'crime' Prince was actually arrested for. Maybe do, just not like did before |

Guilty here for looking at click bait many times, not this particular one which I know is fake but similar ones that slipped past my Adblock. Jeux Sans Frontiers |

He was probably included because there's a phony Prince mugshot doing the rounds. For years. Hell, just enter "mugshot" in the search box at top right of this website. But I guess posting some lame-ass theory is more important than doing a bit of research. © Bart Van Hemelen

Your patronizing is so entertaining, especially since it always makes you look so hilariously rigid and freakishly intolerant. [Edited 7/25/15 5:55am] |

I saw it and clicked through it. There was no actual Prince story. Did wonder if it was something clever use of my cookies. I'm not sure the general public would recognize Prince from the black and white pic which I saw. I agree on the purple and gold shout. |

I know there's a phony mugshot of Prince doing the rounds. What I was saying in my above post was that they used the phony pic to promote the article. How is that a lame-ass theory? If the people who wrote the article followed your advice and did "a bit of research", they would EASILY find out this picture is a fake, which is why I'm 100% sure they know it's a fake pic. So why else include it other than to promote the article? And yes, people seeing a 'mugshot' of Prince would arouse interest. I fail to see how what you said is anything but an extension of what I was saying already...

For real I guess it happens when you harbor a 20-year-and-running hatred towards a musician yet continue visiting his site

You assume everybody sees that pic. But chances are you are seeing that pic because in the big-ass profile databases that ad companies keep you are tagged as having Prince one of your interests. So they show you the Prince pic, and the Bieber fan gets the Bieber pic etc. © Bart Van Hemelen

Wait, wait, wait! You're saying that there are records of what I'm doing online? And that people craft their messaging to me based on that information? AND that people use deceptive methods to get me to do other things online?
.
I'm sorry, Bart. That is one crazy theory on your part. Absolutely nuts. |

No it's not a crazy theory. It's nothing magical. Algorithms are used to store your search patterns. It's the most common thing. Very little of your time on the Internet is private, if you know what I mean. I was house hunting today, and afterwards every news site I opened has those annoying square house ads on them. I called a friend, who is a software analyst and an expert on the Internet, and she had a very technical sounding explanation for this. She was surprised that I was surprised. You will also see your search patterns turning up on your facebook ad prompts. It's just like your amazon shopping search patterns showing up on amazon every time you visit the site. Think of the Internet as one whole.
So yes, there are records of what you do online. In a way, people do craft their messages to you based on that information, but it's done through algorithms.
There's no great mystery in this. Sorry. Funky alien |
