Can you send music demos to Prince?

I haven't really thought about working with Prince professionally as he seems narcrissitic and a workaholic.

But I make music covers and upload them on Soundcloud for public views and have received over 33, 000 plays the past year, which is impressive to me. I used to post Prince covers but they were removed due to copyright infringement. However, it was the Prince-related covers that got the most plays (with some exceptions) so it was a pity I couldn't show them. However, I've made a Vanity 6 cover and received positive reviews.

So is there a way to send music demos to the Purple One?

It's in the ORG FAQ

Contact Prince via Paisley Park. The address is:

Paisley Park Studios
7801 Audubon Road
Chanhassen, MN USA
55317-8201

We can pretty much guarantee you that he won't listen to it but if you want to try go ahead, weirder things have happened in the prince world.

Legaly, it's irrisponsible for any artist (particularly one who writes their own songs) to accept and demos.

T described years ago (on a.m.p) how when he worked at the NPG shop in Minneapolis the employees there occasionally went to the Park to rummage through all the fanmail that was dumped in a room there, to search for the most ludicrous letters to read out loud and mock.

.

I really don't get why people think Prince cares one iota about their crap.

Thats kinda mean tbh but I do agree that people do tend to send a lot of ludicrous crap to him. I'd hate to know what his twitter inbox looks like.

99.99 percent of all artists cannot and will not accept demos because, as stated above, it would be legally foolish for them to do so. Some will go so far as to return them to you, unopened. All it takes is one person to say that someone stole their idea to ruin it for everyone else. So to make a short story long,no.

That is one effect of the so called 'intellecutal property' thing that is pressed onto us as a reality.

It is utterly fake and artificial.

This situation stifles creativity and progress.

You can, but he will just roll over them with his motorcycle.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

It is true though. I know a talented writer that created a whole Simpsons episode & sent it to the producers, it was returned unopened with a letter explaining that they don't accept unsolicited writing, for just that reason. Someone could put out an obvious idea like "Bart falls in love with his teacher" in there, and if the writers ever did a plot like that, even if they came up with it on their own, there would be evidence that someone had received this person's script and thus it "proves" the idea was "stolen".

If I were you I would just keep on making music. Put yourself out there & play from the heart. If what you do makes a ripple, and he happens to come across it one day, maybe you'll get a phone call. If not, at least you got out there and played from the heart.

Prince has seen my work read my lyrics & really liked one of the love songs I wrote but luckily that shit is copy righted so if he so much as samples that shit I own his ass razz lol I legally can sue him if he does wink on a side note If you own it & he hears it that's great as long as it's copyrighted it's cool cool
All of this and more is 4 u. With <3, sincerity and deepest care, my life with u eye share ~Prince~

T had the best stories about his time working at the NPG store and out at PP! I wish he'd come back...

I looked him up on Facebook awhile back and did find him on there, but I didn't friend request him or anything because he really wouldn't know me really. I used to chat with him a lot in the NPGMC chatroom but he probably wouldnt remember that! lol But if you know his real name, just search Facebook and you'll find him. smile

Thanks but I did not chat (a lot) at the NPGMC and stay off failbook for good reason.

Stories from him are welcome!

Fede4real

I used to want to work with him back when I didnt have my own sound but now Im not sure Id accept a proposal by him for an album,as stupid as it may sound lol.

Ive seen so many protegees getting nowhere, and he doesnt seem to be able to let the artist find his/her own sound.I dont want to ruin my career before evn get started. You end up sounding like a Prince by product. Bria Valente for example. Id definately love to work on a couple tracks though but not him takin charge of the project completly

As a rule, studios and big name artists do not open unsollicited content for fear they will be accused of intellectual property theft one way or another.

So you put your demo on youtube.

And afterwards sue Prince because he has seen your song there.

....?

Profit!!!!!
