So....how could anyone ever have a real conversation with this man unless you are in his inner circle?

I get a feeling that he doesn't really want to meet people and be personal. He lives in his own world. Maybe he is just that shy?

He's a shy guy, from what I hear.

I suppose what I mean is more than at a fan signing where you get 10 seconds with him...as in a real conversation. I don't live anywhere near his states of residence but more curious as to who has access to real talks with him.

It must be isolating to only speak with an inner circle. I'd love to chat with him over coffee haha (a girl can dream)

Personally, really love his music but never wanted to meet him in person. don't even read his interviews...just the concert and the music thank you, that's already a lot =)

It's my life's dream to meet Prince (as in, actually introducing myself and engaging in conversation, even if it's just a sentence or two). But I'm a chubby white dude in a wheelchair, so I don't know what my chances are.

I came so close last July at Paisley Park: Prince stood right in front of me and silently offered a cabasa (a handheld percussion instrument similar to a maraca) for me to play. I have Cerebral Palsy and the use of my hands is limited, so I didn't want to look awkward trying to play it in front of him. I really wanted to say something to him, but Kandance Springs was on stage performing at the time and I thought it would be rude of me to try and shout over the music. So I just sat there grinning like an idiot until he walked away. I pray that wasn't the only chance I'll ever get to meet him.

More to the point, does he ever carry any money around? Does he have a wallet? Does he even have pockets? How does he do his shopping? Does he ever walk up to the fridge, take a look inside and think "nothing here, I need to go and get some eggs". Does he make his own sandwiches? Does he pour his own tea and coffee?

All these questions NEED to be answered before I ever agree to a formal introduction.

I met him in 2007 in London. Told the story a million times so you can search for it if you want to. But that's what it boils down to. Right place, right time.

I had e brief interaction with him during the Rainbow Children tour. I was setting in the front row and we talked during the sound check.

Funny thing happened that day. Those around during that time likely remember that you could get access to the sound check by purchasing your tickets from the fan club. At the venue, a list of names would be started with folks as they arrived. Prince's people at the venue would take that list and admit them in the same order, single file, to the sound check. This happened all during the tour.

While he was in Dallas we followed the same process. I had arrived pretty early so I was the first person on the list. So when we were escorted towards the sound check, I was at the head of the line. We went through a check in process and received a badge. We could hear that Prince had already started the sound check and was performing Bambi. As we approached the doors to go in, the staff quickly escorted us to the basement because a tornado warning had sounded. Only thing, I guess no one had the balls to tell Prince, or they did and he ignored it. He just kept on jamming which we could hear in the basement. Fifteen minutes or so passed and they let us in, still in the same order.

Perhaps Prince does not know just how close he was to meeting his maker that day as the tornado did actually hit a couple miles way.

hmmm... I though the late 80's was when he had a lot more followers. He even had decoy limos and vans during his Lovesexy stop in Houston. I saw this first person.

Not a quick solution, but one that might work.

Play an instrument, and move to Minneapolis. Play with every and any musician you can, preferably something pop/funk/soul/jazz. Make a ton of connections in the local music scene, including club owners, other musicians, music/entertainment journalists, etc.

At some point he'll either wander into a club where you're playing, or you'll know someone who can get you backstage or in a VIP area with him.

A second route:

A guy I worked with was in concert production in Minneapolis. His specialty was lasers for concerts and corporate events. (The rest of this is 2nd hand from him.) For years, he badgered Prince's revolving management to at least take a meeting with him. One day out of the blue they called and said they wanted a meeting. He goes to PP, and sits in a conference room waiting for someone to come in and let him do his presentation. Eventually, managers and others, along with Prince enter the room. Prince says "Hello, how are you." Then they all sit quietly and watch the presentation. Prince doesn't say another word. Presentation over, dude leaves, never hears anything from them again. Through the grapevine, he hears Prince does his own effects and staging in house.
