wow this written by someone who knows their shit. And what a trip to see the Baby I'm a Star Grammy clip imbedded. It's amazing that he recovered from that initial flub where the shawl pulled the mic, and then he hit himself in the face with it... but he recovered like it was nothing.

At least they have 3 audios to listen to.

Very fun article. I must add - out of principle alone - one of Prince's greatest screams occurs on Little Red Corvette (Dance Mix) (:31 - :35). Impeccable buildup, Incredible scream(s). Maybe it didn't make the cut because it was a remix. Top 5 in my opinion.

I wish it had a link to soundcloud with 30 audio snippets.

I can imagine most of them, but it would be enjoyable to look up all the parts.

2 of my fave scream examples:

"We Can Funk" has some great screamed lines during the final chapter of the song, "baby" is screamed a few times, and the quick "Ooww"-type scream after the line "..be a big strong man" at ~4:15 is fantastic.

There's some screaming awesomeness in "You Make My Sun Shine" from 4:45 to 5:10 too.

I rarely read these types of articles anymore, because it seems like they're often written by dudes who don't know dick about Prince, but this one was good! A few impressions...

1. It's odd that the first scream in Endorphinmachine is singled out, and the others get just a nod, when it's obviously the last scream in the song that is special.
2. The scream in Gett Off is actually Rosie, and since when has the song not aged well? If anything, that 90s thump is sounding fresher these days, at least to my ears.
3. The Chaos And Disorder album was "tepid?" Nah, man, give it another chance!
4. I like that the ATWIAD scream is mentioned. Not a typical Prince scream by any means, and most certainly an odd one.
5. I think Now might be my number 1, instead of Do Me, Baby, as it sounds like he's truly having a psychotic break. Though, the echo effect on the Darling Nikki scream nearly takes it there for me, too.
6. Tamborine gets a nod for dog whistling, but not God? Excuse me?
7. My favorite thing about this article is that the writer only had Saviour on cassette. In fact, I love anyone who went to the record store and decided that Emancipation on cassette was indeed the best format.

Shame he does not listen to any boots, because the screams on Electric Intercourse would blow any of those ones away. That scream, on that song is the stuff dreams are made of.

Nonsense, prince is noted in a general pop culture way for his screams. It'd be like 30 best Michael Jackson dance moves or 30 best Kanye ridiculous brags.

Interesting idea for a list. I was really surprised that "I'm Yours" wasn't mentioned. Thats a hellacious one. Ditto "Superfunkycalifragisexy" and "Sexual Suicide".
