Nicely done aside from the most prolific artist of all time part.

I wrote "one of" in the version I sent them. They chopped about 200 words overall for the edit. I tend not to talk in absolutes when I write, usually. But that's what editors do, I guess lol

Glad you liked it!

It's interesting/frustrating how editor's do that kind of thing. Then you, as the author, are of course blamed for it.

Nice article! I like how you covered so many topics on just two pages in a few colorful paragraphs, from the personal angle and bootlegs to songs written for other artists, essential albums and interesting trivia. And nice choice of photos, too. Would´ve been cool if you added maybe one very recent picture of him, with the big afro, just to show people that Prince defies age.... but then again, most of the better looking recent pictures with the afro are either illegal liveshow pictures taken with a phone or you´d probably end up in copyrights trouble. wink

Despite the big pictures, you still managed to mention many facts and I like how you gave your text some structure with those multicolored boxes.

That part about "Prince never fails to disappoint in a live scenario" is quite funny though. lol

I like that you chose a picture of him playing his Hohner telecaster. I miss that guitar, I think the Cloud and the Hohner are his most iconic and most personal guitars, those Vox and Fenders look so random on him.

The last time I saw the Cloud was when someone else was playing it ( Blues guitarist Bernard Allison during his live shows....he plays a purple Cloud).

Glad you guys like it.

KoolEaze, I can't take credit for the design layout or the choice of photos though, that's all the newspaper's in house people. They said the pictures come from an agency they work with, so they are all rights-protected, etc.

I had nothing to do with the layout! lol

This newspaper covers my band a lot, we've had the double page spread everytime we've released an album (and I had it once as a solo artist when I did my first solo single back in 2009) so that would be why.

Nice pics (except for the guy with the curl on the left side of the page) but nothing in that article that hasn't been said before so many times. And he claims the Graffiti Bridge film is 'enjoyable in it's own way'.

Propaganda!

I thought that guy was the highlight, personally cool cool

And I stand by that comment! I do enjoy Graffiti Bridge. It's better when you stop trying to understand what the hell is going on lol

Hi Militant!!

Great article. I loved the following line you wrote:

"Over the years, almost everything else about my life may have changed, but my love of Prince`s work has remained consistant".

That is exactly the same for me too.

I loved that part too. It's one of the few truths that's remained constant in life! lol Even when I'm not a fan of some albums (looking at you, MPLSound), I'm still happy to be along for the ride because there's always his extensive back catalog and tons of live boots. Moreover, I enjoy seeing how my taste and attitudes toward some songs or albums changes over time.

Someone on my fb page is saying Prince posted the article on his Twitter and then deleted it a few minutes later...... hmmmmmm I see you P! cool

Perhaps it was the details about those unreleased songs? lol

Very nice layout and I liked the fact that you discuss other eras besides the eighties, which is where people tend to get stuck.

Well done, congrats. cool

Amazing job! cool

The only negative, and this is highly personal, is not having If I Was Your Girlfriend on the top five singles. That song is still transcendental, and more so in 2015. Risky in 1987 yes, but unreal today.

I agree with your opinion on the song, but felt it deserved a mention in the SOTT albums section, rather than the 5 singles section, which I reserved for huge hits that non fans would know.
