Two questions:

1) Where did Dr Funkenberry say this?

2) Why do you believe him? He hasn't had the inside track for a while now.

I believe it was tweeted by the prince/ 3rdeyegirl twitter page last week that a surprise was coming this weekend. Dr funkenberry retweeted it.

3RDEYGIRL tweeted "Don't miss another hot summer weekend of Funknroll at Paisley Park". Then Dr Funkenberry retweeted that and added "A June surprise from @Prince3EG this weekend". He has since deleted it. It seems like he made that up himself.

It's 5 PM, Sunday, in Minneapolis (on Prince's birthday no less) and people are in town left wondering if a show is going to happen.

Do you realize how incredibly SELFISH and self righteous you sound? You're right IT IS A SUNDAY, maybe the man wants to rest? Doesnt the rest of America have OFF? Didnt he just have an event earlier this week?

I just took a look at the Prince3EG twitter page and unless something was deleted no where does it state there was an event scheduled for this weekend. You assumed the 140 characters of the tweet in question to mean that. To me it reads as a teaser, like there will be more events to come so get your shhh together and be ready.

"Prince knows some fans might travel" Its not Prince's responsibility to keep up with what his fans are doing, are you serious? Some fans seem to think the man life revolves around them when its clearly the other way around. Do you expect Prince to drop whatever he's doing just because folks he doesnt even know are in his town? Unless there is a flyer or official announcement why complain without confirmation and get upset over your own expectation? Save as much as you can and make the trip once something is CONFIRMED. Some notice maybe last minute but that's the thrill of it all, you should know the drill by now.

Lack of consideration? thats exactly what you are showing. Bottom-line: just be appreciative & thankful Prince still puts on events at Paisley Park.

Did you see the part where Drfunkelbarry (who has been an official mouthpiece for Prince) tweeted that something was happening this weekend? Did you see that some fans are driving in and reportedly flew to mpls from the UK?

You're delusional if you think PRINCE doesn't know that he has fans that drive or fly to see him perform. Prince and his people could easily announce that nothing is happening.

I know the drill, having been to Paisley several times.

Furthermore, fool, I am not selfish and despise entitlement. If you notice I was trying to advocate for a better situation, but according to you, it's FUN to wait in line for hours or drop a couple thousand bucks in order to see Prince play..... or not play.

I should save up for a show?? I would gladly travel to a show if I could get some freaking notice.

Apparently, as you suggest, Prince can sit back and chill watching tv perhaps, while some fans are in mpls hoping to see a show which they clearly were lead to believe something would be happening this weekend. Prince's staff could easily confirm yes or no about what is happening this weekend.

The operative word here is "another". The tweet didn't say "this weekend". Prince holds events at Paisley Park frequently but not always every weekend. The tweet suggests that there will concerts at Paisley park in the immediate future. Anybody that took that tweet to mean, Prince was doing Paisley Park After Dark should have been aware that he may or may not do it.

Dude, that was your choice. No one told you to flock your butt to Chanhassen over for the purpose of this conversation a half assed tweet. Understood you want to see Prince play but Prince & his ppl did nothing wrong here. Again, didnt see anything on Prince3EG twitter regarding an event this weekend. Who would be silly enough to listen to Funkenberry when there is an OFFICIAL Prince account to tweet news straight from the source? Advocate for a better situation? wow, I hope you realize no other artist on the face of the planet on regularly puts on events in the way Prince does. Lets add UNGRATEFUL to your list. You're right.... other artists do this thing called a TOUR in a series of cities, where you can simply buy tickets in advance and plan to attend.

Prince announces a US tour, played a couple cities, then retreats back to Paisley.

Posting that tweet along with Funkenberry's tweet that something is happening this weekend - certainly could AND obviously did lead fans to travel to Chanhassen.

But somehow you and others think Prince's people couldn't simply address this one way or the other.

Just another example of how cryptic messages and unclear marketing can lead to confusion. Personally I take everything that comes out of Prince's camp with a pinch jumbo jet of salt. In fact my first thought is to consider it an out and out lie and then get on with my life. Prince is incapable of being up front and talking straight. Everything has to be a riddle. Its the one aspect of Prince that I have come to dispise. The music I will always buy, whether it is hit or miss, but everything else that he has created his persona around is tired and boring. Forget dropping commitments and jumping in a car/bus/train/plane, I wouldnt travel 2 feet from the comfort of my couch to see him based on a fucking tweet.

I can have no sympathy for anyone who travelled from the UK, not any more. It's chaotic enough trying to decipher what's happening and make plans when he's in this country. Anyone who travelled either knew exactly what they were letting themselves in for and could easily afford it, or were just completely mental.

I'm personally fed up with the stupid messages and lack of information but have accepted that we shouldn't expect anything unless it's offered for sale, or made publicily available by other means. But it clearly is never going to change. Too often now we've had the tweet of the announcement of a surprise that there's going to be news. It got old a long time ago.

Should Prince stop the games and riddles and give us information which is accurate and not open to misinterpretation? Absolutely he should? Will he? Certainly not.

Seriously though, who is a big enough of a fan that they're able to drop everything and travel continents at a moments notice but aren't big enough of a fan to realise that prince says all sorts of cryptic nonsense that comes to nothing all the time?

I can add 2+2. The way I see it is this... He was going to do something on Sunday, then somebody reminded him that it was his birthday and he suddenly realised that he can't do something on that day, being as he's JW.

So it seems obvious to me that today is confirmed for the album release with a launch party at Paisley which will be simulcast to theaters around the world. At the end of the show Prince will announce remasters are in record stores the following morning and there's a new web site with direct access to the vault having tracks available on a pay per download basis, or you can get 77 minutes unlimited access for $777.

I don't really see how it could be interpreted any differently.
