Great idea for a blog and insightful written pieces.

Prince's lyrics, from throughout his career, contain many philosophical gems that translate well into the area of psychology and could be applied to great therapeutic effect in counseling. The same could probably be said for many other original songwriters. I suspect P. is fairly adept with at least some basic psychology. His writing, I find, is heavily versed in metaphor and symbols, and as such can be accessed in a variety of ways through the filter of one's own personal interpretation. As I listen to his songs and pore through the lyrics, I am often struck by certain phrases and lines of his poetry that resonate with me, focusing my awareness on my personal truths as they are uncovered. Through this illumination of our inner wisdom, we are provided with an opportunity to harness this information to help us make some sense of our inner and outer realities (arguably, they are one in the same), and even reframing those subjective realities in ways that can empower us and provide healing.

Yes, narcissists are well-known for their psychological insight.

That being said, his incredible poetry has often framed my inner reality in a harnassed metaphor.

Haha!! Yeah some of his lyrics are throw away nonsense like the chorus in Let's Go Crazy for example. Yes I know about the elevator supposedly being about satan, etc. it still sounds silly because of that purple banana craziness.

I don't know....prince doesn't trust women....unless he thinks he has complete control over them...while at the same time the more he controls them the less he trusts them. He idealizes a certain kind of purity, then gets disappointed when no one can manage to mIntain his perception of them so then he gets the next one on the back burner.... He definitely has a pattern.....I bet on the mommy issues ....
