Loved this jam then, and still love it. I couldn't get past Future Soul Song and this one when 20TEN dropped. Played tracks 3 and 4, over and over, before I could get to the rest of the album.

Someone said somewhere that their father engineered this track for Prince back in the 80s, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. It seems to have that flair he had back then.

The rehearsal of this song from 3RDEYETV is a huge fave.

Really? That's news to me. It has Shelby and Liv on vocals, so parts of it has to have been added later.

It's the highlight of 20ten for me and I'd agree - underrated. But Parade-era worthy? Not for me.

Reminds me of the Parade era sound... Doesn't mean it's Parade era worthy... lol

I'd take Sticky Like Glue over Do U Lie any day...

Might actually go listen to those back to back now...

On a separate note, the rehearsal version reminds me if Forever In My Life/It from the SOTT movie.

If this track was made in the 80's people would give it the credit it deserves... This can easily fit on any 80's album of Prince.

True. This could be said of a lot of non 80's tracks. Also, there are a few songs from the 80's that would not be appreciated if released now.

Hell, "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" IS from 1988 and some people don't like as much as they shoulda/coulda/woulda....

it was reworked from a mid 80's outake. vocals were new anyway.

Awesome song... "I know we're dysFUNKShhhhnL..."

I thought the whole album might be composed of songs written some time ago. Might have been a reason why it wasn't released in the US. Great song and great album.

the best part about the rhythm guitar on this is how clear it is in the mix. funny how Prince has a tendency to bury his lead/guitar solos on studio tracks though.

I heard that as well but nothing confirmed... Anybody have a source... It really sounds like an 80's track, that was my first impression when I heard it.

Someone who was around at the time haha! lol

Its nothing special, a lot of tracks are updates of old outakes or scraps and ideas Prince was working on, then left for a while, then worked on further. You'd be surprised which songs are a LOT older then you think!

Maybe that's why Sticky Like Glue sounds so 80's like... Was really surprised when I played that song for the first time, it totally outshines all the tracks on that album.

Oh its just funky. The lyrical arrangements is spot on and works cretively with the production. it leaves space but the way it is written is complex for some simplistic lyrics.

Bright / blue / eyes

How / Are / You

Almost like a haiku

I agree. I still feel Sticky Like Glue is one of his best tracks in the last 15 years...

Whether you think 20ten is dope or not, this track is a classic. You know how I know? When I have my iPod on random and it comes up... I (hand to the bible) have never skipped it.
