Steve Albini once told my band to rehearse more quietly at Fortress Studios in London as he was mixing upstairs. I thought that was wonderfully ironic. We forgave him, cos he produced "In Utero" and that's some classic shit.

He doesn't accept royalties or producer credits for albums he works on, he just takes a flat fee. So the success (or otherwise) of a record means nothing to him, which is quite admirable.
