On one hand I understand but on the other, as a Boston resident, I would have loved to check this out.

FYI Somerville is technically just outside of Boston, however it is still very much within city limits and on the subway line.

Never heard of this. Maybe I'll get some stuff ready just in case they try again

There were a couple of Hebrews and Italians in there

How do they know everyone else is white?

What the fuck? They cancelled it just because all of the artists who were in there were white? I don't get that.

It was probably just a coincidence that most of the artists were white? I highly doubt they were discouraging any other races from displaying their work.

I would of loved to have seen this :/

The artists should get together and create own art show. Competition is good. If the circus don't allow it create a new circus!
What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Dumb idea for a art show. Even dumber excuse to cancel it.

from the link provide:

A show at Somerville’s Washington Street gallery titled “Dig If U Will a Picture,” featuring “illustration, photos, paintings, mixed media, quilts, embroidery, and silkscreened prints” inspired by Minneapolis’ funkiest son, has been canceled. The gallery offered this explanation on its calendar:

After much consideration, we have decided to cancel the Prince-themed show scheduled for June 2015. In light of recent discussions, clearly a show of all white artists does not do justice to the subject, and we would be unable to reorganize the show in a truly inclusive way in the short time remaining before the scheduled opening. We are grateful for dialogue around these issues and hope to revisit this show in the future when we are able to present it with a more diverse representation of artists.

OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, June 6, 7-10 p.m.

ON VIEW: June 6-27, Saturdays 12-4 p.m., and by appointment

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in appreciation of a visionary musician, performer, and artist who has intrigued the world for decades. In June 2015, Washington Street gallery in Somerville, MA will host Dig If U Will A Picture, a group show of art inspired by Prince.

Twenty-two artists will channel the man, his music, and his mystique into original works of art. With Prince as the catalyst, illustration, photos, paintings, mixed media, quilts, embroidery, and silkscreened prints will take a turn for the dramatic and decadent. Doves will cry, purple and lavender will abound, and there is bound to be at least one Lake Minnetonka reference.

Hope 2 see U there.

Sums him up for the non-fans I guess
