Best Prince codas Orgers. . What is your favourite Prince coda? That moment, usually at the end of a song, where the music takes a left turn and suddenly you're in a completely different place? . My vote goes to the final section of In This Bed Eye Scream, where Prince's feedbacking guitar pulses and groans and loops and before you know it the whole song has become a completely different beast, dark and funky. . Second place goes to Neon Telephone, not a song I care for too much, but in the last minute or so the song lurches tempo into a plastic funky groove, with Prince monotoning on about how nobody calls him anymore, whilst he fools about with his bass. Very nice indeed. . Give me your Princely codas!

The first thing that popped in my head was "I Wanna Be Your Lover". That whole extended instrumental end section is almost like its own song. "Neon Telephone" is a great one, "Papa" has one of my favorites as well---I might like the coda better than the rest of the song!

there's also a small, but beautiful one on "Dark" and i guess with a stretch you could even call the entire guitarsolo at the end of "The Holy River" a coda? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

In This Bed I Scream has a fantastic finish and much like the ending of FunkNRoll on AoA, it needed to be much longer!

Love the coda of Neon Telephone. "What, u think ur 2 good or somethin'?" U Got The Look is pretty hard to beat. She Spoke 2 Me is great. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

"U Got The Look". That ending shouldn't work- but it does and it's great. "If I Was Your Girlfriend" linn drum "we'll imagine what silence sounds like" "Beautiful Young & Blessed" funky dirty guitar sounds like a bootleg. "Funknroll" ending is the only good part of that song. If the rest was like this it would have been awesome

I'll add the horns & fake horns at the end of Time on AOA. That's a funky little section. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

The last 2-3 minutes of "Come" are pretty fabulous. Smokin' coda on the end of "Shhh". Other honorable mentions: "Vicki Waiting", "Another Lonely Christmas", "Glam Slam", "Thunder".

great topic...id been thinking recently how NO ONE finishes a song as well as Prince does/did...SO many examples
"My Computer" - the synth and rhythm guitar work in the last minute of the song is insane...and i cant even begin to recreate what the hell hes playing on bass...one of the most inimitable bass parts ever...turned an ordinary song into a funk masterpiece "Time" - last 30 seconds sound lifted from a For You session...love it "I Wanna Be Your Lover" & "Just As Long As Were Together" - earliest examples "Come" - the last two minutes easily make the first 9 and a half minutes worth the wait... "Computer Blue" "The Continental" "Sticky Like Glue" "Mountains" "Anotherloverhole inyohead" - closing coda sounds like vintage Parliament/Funkadelic with the lil piano loop in the outro [Edited 6/16/15 14:35pm]

The ending of "Can't Stop This Feeling I Got" I wish there was an extended version, he was about to go into his 80's new wave funk and you can hear the beginning of a killer guitar solo, but it just fades away never to be heard.... ![]()
