Nice news about the prince article! I'll look out for it, is the article going to be some kind of promotion for a show or album release?

Ok, different from where I live then. Asian would mean Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Syria. I haven't seen one person from India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. Wierd
Funny story. When I talked to a Persian girl long time ago, she said one of Prince parents were from Iran. And would you believe I actually thought that was the case. He looks so middle eastern during his 1991-1993 period.

I think the etymology varies depending on the concentration of that minority.
Here in the UK, the large amount of people from India and the surrounding countries is a direct result of British colonialism. In the USA, there's a much higher amount of Chinese/Korean/Japanese people so the term "Asian" refers to them, whereas we Indians are considered "South Asian". |

It's off topic, but I wanted to say that I've come around to your way of thinking on the sampler set. Mostly due to the recent FBG releases. Even without seeing Prince on stage, there's some very funky shit going on in those sampler sets. I can see the appeal now! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

He really does. In my extended social circle alone, there was 30-40 of us from the Brit-Asian music/media scene all present when Prince did Hop Farm Festival. And that's just people that I knew.
I think maybe it's a similar phenomenon to how Morrissey has a huge Mexican-American fanbase. |
