Prince's 'Jamie Starr Voice' I'm trying to make a list of every track, released and unreleased, on which Prince uses his 'Jamie Starr' voice. This is the voice from 'Cloreen Baconskin' and 'Tricky', which I believe are both jams with Morris Day on drums. Here's what I have so far:
- Cloreen Baconskin
- Tricky
- Cold Coffee and Cocaine (Purple Rain Era solo piano jam)
- Chocolate (1983 Revolution version)
- Do Yourself A Favour (1982 Prince solo version) - ending only
- I Wish U Heaven Part 3
- Feel U Up/Irresistible Bitch (1981 Outtake Versions) - This might not be the actual Jamie Starr voice, but it is similar.
- G-Spot (1983 version) - ending only
Have I missed any? And does anyone have a decent 'Jamie Starr album' playlist? That's the reason I'm making the list, but if someone else has already done this it would save me a lot of time!!! |

It was in fact an attempt to imitate Morris Day's voice for guide vocals (and parodic purposes on occasion), so it's usually referred as his "Morris Day" voice more than "Jamie Starr", I don't think it was ever supposed to be the voice of Jamie Starr at all. |

That's interesting. I've sure I've read somewhere that it was meant to be the voice of Jamie Starr but perhaps I was mistaken. Since Morris started out as a drummer before The Time, do you think Prince told Morris to sing in this way? |

Question...
What do we call the voice used in Vibrator and If A Girl Answers (Don't Hang Up)? A robin sings a masterpiece that lives and dies unheard... |

ive also read in the book "Possessed", i believe, that the voice on Cloreen Baconskin is an imitation of Prince's father's voice..
