I can't believe this thread is on page 3. But I guess it's a fun discussion, even if it is the most unrealistic shit ever. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

. I sincerely think this the best idea I've heard on this board. If it happened I think it would be newsworthy and put Prince ahead of the curve again. Really! The idea that a music legend accepts fan songs, takes the songs and the sounds he likes and reworks them to make the ultimate "for the fans" album is awesome! . I've so often wondered how it would sound to mix Prince with some of my other favourite music. I would love to be able to send him my attempts at making my ideal music, and to ask him, "can you do anything with this?" . MAN that would be cool.

Although this is a wonderful idea, I have to agree with Kingsausage here. This is unrealistic. For one nobody will be able to decide on a location, I mean I know someone suggested Zambia because it's fairly central in the world but even then, some people on here simply don't have the money to get flights to go there. It all seems very costly and honestly it just seems like way too much trouble, why not just wait until he comes around to your city again?

Except for Prince sues his fans, takes down videos of their kids dancing to his music, and frequently rips them off on business deals. I'm guessing he's not going to play along. . Why? Someone just takes the initiative. Chooses a sensible location. (city and venue, at least a venue size has to be chosen) Not everybody will like it but at least we have a start. Then we can gather interested parties to invest in this idea. When we reach the ballpark sums to hire mr P, hire a venue, etc we we get in touch with mr P and venue etc and work out some sort of planning. Etc. . Say we choose a 10K sized venue in London or Paris. (fairly easily reachable cities; I will not travel to the US until after the revolution) Mr P costs X million. Venue costs Y k. Maybe hire someone to oversee all of this for z k. add these up and you have your sum. Divide by 10k and have people invest that sum.

I think the location should be Paisely Park that way he's at home and comfortable. It could be a week long event where he meet and greet the orgers and let them perform their song lyric or melody on stage for him and the orgers in attendance show some concert footage have a little jam session each night and that Saturday do the orgers concert of songs the orgers request and keep the songs the orgers submitted and create his next CD!

We want to book P to perform or to book P to be able to sing for him? You need to be a tad more realistic. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

It's just an idea it's not written in stone! I am being realistic and you need to come up with an idea instead of being negative and cold and be realistic yourself!

Prince would NEVER do this for the simple reason that he doesn't want the appearance that he's letting his nutty fans from a fan site (which, remember, he likes to fucking sue) dictate what he does. Come on, people. You know how he is. Can you HONESTLY see him going along with this? And would you want to enter a contractural relationship with him? Come up with a better idea? Here's one: See Prince perform when he comes to a town near you. Expect to hear the hits. Expect a sampler set. And throw your hands up! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

^You're right. And I've been lucky enough to hear Prince play rarities throughout the years like I Love U In Me, Gotta Broken Heart Again, Girl, What's My Name, Mutiny... So why would I pay €1000 for something I have seen for €100? Besides, even if you do get the $2 million together, that doesn't mean he will do requests.

Money will have to be spent before Prince puts pen to paper. Lots of it. Deposits/retainers for venue, catering, security. If Prince pulls the plug, thats money you wont get back. You suddenly got an angry crowd of orgers on your back. You going to give them the money back yourself?

. If I had $1000 I'd pay. If I had the $2mil I'd pay, but seeing as how I don't I do have words, I'm game!!! But I'd have to make some special requests for songs though.... "If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so". Thomas Jefferson

The $1000 would be better spent if it guaranteed that NO orgers would be present [Edited 5/22/15 6:06am]

The location would be voted upon by the people paying-in. Maybe the ones at a certain level, if it becomes too many.
It doesn't cost any more to travel (to anywhere) than it does when going to any other concert or any other event that doesn't occur in your own city. People do it all the time - especially as is claimed on the org.
This is supposed to be special - possibly a one-time thing. Sure, its going to cost more. But the hope is that performance/material wise, this will be beyond EPIC.

Yeah, and I'm going to drive to the concert with Marion Cotillard as my special guest, who will fellate me the whole way there. We will stop for dinner with Obama, then smoke hash with Robert Downey Jr. after the show. Prince will become my best friend and will play an even better concert at my next birthday party. I'll charge Orgers $2,000 to attend. You should have gotten in on the $1,000 bargain when you had a chance, chumps! Paisley Park seems like it would be a good idea. People who haven't seen Prince's environment get a chance to have a look; Prince is in a comfortable environment and doesn't have to make any special trip; Prince has had dozens of events there and all the things like equipment, security, refreshments, etc. should be easily settled upon and setup.
I like the multiple days idea; maybe not a week

To be honest, $2,000,000 doesn't seem like that much money, especially seeing how much money several Kickstarter ideas generate above what has been requested.
Here's another idea, $1,000+ gets you a ticket to the performance, $200 gets you a proscan (dvd/bluray) of the performance, $400 gets you a signed copy of the proscan of the performance and a signed copy of Purple Rain/Sign o the Times on vinyl or CD.
To be honest, if this actually could happen, I don't think it would take a day to get to $2,000,000.
Now, that may not account for other expenses, like security, venue, refreshments, etc., but baby steps...

One of the reasons that led me to the idea is that SO many people have such a hard time with your good advice...
Almost every performance results in a collective "string him up!" because of when/where he performs ("why isn't it my city, why not at this venue"), he plays the same "hits"over and over, and he lazily plays a sampler set, etc.
I haven't been to 1 Prince concert over the years (84-now, at least a dozen, many with travel) that I didn't have great fun and enjoyment, whether he plays hits, a lot of guitar and a bit of piano, a little guitar and no piano, all hits, a long sampler set, no new songs, starts 1.5 hours late, etc...
But, maybe we can put our money where our mouths are and pay to get some things we all would like to see.
It never hurts to ask!

Even if Prince magically accepted the money and did a gig and we worked out the logistics and fairies fell from my butt, Prince would still NEVER take guidance on his setlist. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I'm just saying... no point in starting the negotiations off thinking small!
I've seen Purple Rain cds for $4 in countless retail bins, so putting his symbol on a few shouldn't be that big of a sacrifice.
Also, giving us a copy of the performance/event that we specifically paid for may not seem so far fetched in his mind.

Keep hope alive! Never say never. With age comes some changes in perspective. Prince may consider this a feasible ode to the lifelong fans!

I was actually thinking about funding one of these but after putting some thought into it, the better alternative is just simply going 2 Paisley Park during one of his concert evenings. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

. Dream on. Other than some talk about this idea, e.g. during this show, he never ever offered us uncut, unedited, raw recordings at a reasonable price of any show. He never ever openly or officially allowed us to bring recording gear despite his talk. . Nowadays it has become so easy and cheap to allow fans to obtain their SBD recordings via the internet. It's even less of a hassle than to allow recordings to be made. . The recent SBD leaks show us how much of his part of the deal he has under control. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

. what do you mean, 'gigs'? Like concerts, or a commissioned album? 'Cause i'm talking about fans commissioning a Prince album, not a concert.
