do new releases make up for more than a decade of ... A flood is just as much a curse as a drought... it feels like a dream cum true, butt i still have a sore spot which I haven't quite worked through after years of spotty output.
it's like the good old days now; I trip on one song ("Telepathy" this week) and can't get enough of it and yet there's a sea of more great songs in the line up. My buddy hasn't even heart PlectrumElectrum yet because he's been tripping on AOA for months now. "'AnotherLove' 'What's that?' he says... Boy is he in for a surprise. I keep telling him...!

Plec Elec is an awesome joint, I love both AoA and Plec Elec, the latter is special to me as a long time Prince fan because I've always wanted him to do a legit rock album. I'd agree with you that the 2000s maybe even from 1996-2003 he wasn't at his best and was unfocused, I didn't buy anything other thatn Chaos and Disorder from that period, so much other great music in the 1990s to listen to. I didn't buy 3121 or Planet Earth from the 2000s but have Lotus Flow3r which has 1 of 3 CDs that I'm crazy about and its the one that was more rock and jazz oriented. I've heard that 3121 and 2010 were good, but even if they sold a little more I don't think they are as tight and focused as AoA or PlecElec. He's having fun again and it shows throught the music. These two joints set foundation for a solid next few years as Prince nears 60 years old; hope 3RDEYEGIRL stays together for the duration. It will be some great work, based on AoA and PlecElec I can't wait!

1979-1988 absolves Prince of absolutely everything

I agree with you 100% especially that he is more human than he has ever been! Agree, agree, and agree again. terrig, you know who is like Prince in terms of just pure chaneling artistic genius overa a period of years? Stevie Wonder...his 1972-1980 run is the only one that rivals Prince in my opinion. 1972 "Music of My Mind", 1973 "Innervisions"[an equal to or slightly better than Prince's best], 1974 "Fullfilingness First Finale", 1976 "Songs in the Key of Life [an equal and maybe better than Prince's best....insanely good], 1979 "Journey into the Secret Life of Plants" [genius and almost avant garde], 1980 "Hotter than July."
After that "Woman in Red" for the film and then some hit and miss but very pop releases with some good stuff kinda like Prince from 1990-2000. What do you think? Bowie had a similar run while I respect his music greatly I don't know enough to comment.
Radiohead had a tremendous run to from "The Bends" to "Ok Computer" to "Kid A"/"Amnesiac" to "Hail to the Theif", to "In Rainbows." "king of limbs" is ok but I like Yorke's solo joint better. Not as long a period of genius as Prince or Stevie or Bowie but incredible especially in an era where artists career development is second to pumping out trendy, vapid and easily produced "hits" for iTunes or wherever.
