Sure he does. You can see a definite change in Prince and his performances away from raunchy material to more dare I say family friendly fare. He mentioned it in some of his recent performances, LA shows comes to mind. So definitely, he certainly has a good understanding of the content of his music and the impact on kiddo's like you.'

What's your favorite album?

Of course he knows! Jester Jenkins who posts a lot of album reviews and other cool stuff, (he's pretty young, in his 20's I assume) he met Prince back in 2013 and last year to talk to Prince about the new album!
I'm 16 and been a deep fan for over a year and a half. And my dad didn't really like Prince but now since I play his music, he digs stuff like "Controversy" (although I can't play "Come" to any of my family.. then it would be awkward lol)

I assume he's aware--but I don't think the changes in setlists and content have to do with concerns about young fans, but (outside of maybe some religious concerns) an interest in providing a comfortable place for older fans with kids in tow.

.

Many of us older fans became fans when we were the OP's age (or younger)--and Prince was giving us songs like Head and Sister and Darling Nikki. He's either not doing it now because he's not that person anymore (regardless of who his audience is), or he's doing it for the older audience and their family ways (which is still who's mainly buying those tickets and music).

.

Just my opinion--and I'm glad there are younger generation fans--thus far, the only song my daughter's ever sung along with is Way Back Home, and I think that was involuntarily because I kept playing it for a few weeks while driving her to school. So I'm glad people are finding their way to him all on their own, because I'm completely failing to make a new fan.

Depend on what definition of "knows" you are using. I think he doesn't condescend to young people, but I know he is aware of how important the next generations are. In the Baltimore concert he spoke at length to young people specifically after saying that we as a society had "lost our way." I'm REALLY, REALLY glad you are listening to him, hopefully you have checked out his last two releases Plec Elec and AoA to enjoy Prince in his current form.

Agree with popgodazipa, also the man has matured spiritually and swore off the raunchy stuff we all dug when we were in our 20s and 30s. So people in their teens or 20s now are being exposed to a more mature yet still musically and lyrically profound Prince.

Hi welcome to THE ORG kid well Prince knows were here He's allways focused on youth people & youth it's a thing for him in hence 3EG & the young gfs he has. He's music evolves a lot because he checks out what young people like & try to do that even though he has a unique spin on it still works well (A.O.A) but yes he notices & it's great to see more youth here as a young fan myself I'm 17 been a fan since I was 8yrs old but it's great learning about a legend like Prince cool
All of this and more is 4 u. With <3, sincerity and deepest care, my life with u eye share ~Prince~

He's seen his concert audiences. Not just older folk in the crowd. The same can't be said for most people who started in the 70's.

I was a Prince fan at age 12, and joined the ORG and other Prince sites back in the early 2000's, quite infamous back then, if some of u remember... But anyway I fell in love with Prince's music while everyone else was listenting to N Sync, Brittney Spears at the time...

I saw him 4 times last year, on the barrier for everyone and got a smile of Prince at one of them. I was singing along to Cool I think and I must look about 16 (despite being 20) and he looked right at me and smiled. I like to think it's because he thought 'wow there's a kid who knows all the words to reasonably obscure track'lol! Anyway, yeah, he's defo aware.
I got two sides... and they're both friends.
