Work It! 34 Discs About a month ago I discovered the Work It! Discs and man ol' man! I became a Prince fan when I was 14 (The Love Symbol album had just came out). It was so much fun every time I got some money I would buy an album from his back catalogue. Every two weeks was a new batch of songs to devour. Now with these discs I got to do the same thing again!

Work It is a great set. There have been many additional leaks since it came out. New songs. Better versions. Etc. but it's still essential. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I started a thread here asking for folks' favorite unreleased songs after I picked this up, and have been making comps for car listening based on those suggestions. It's been a lot of fun.

Good idea....I would like to see some fanmade covers for deluxe sets with unreleased tracks included...

Is Work It much different from The Work?

Was made several years later and has many, many songs in better quality. It makes The Work completely redundant. The only issue with it is that it's studio tracks only so there's a few tracks that were only played live (Electric Intercourse & All Day, All Night come to mind) that didn't make it onto it. They've mainly come out in much better quality since The Work anyway so there's no real point in The Work anymore. It had nice artwork though

This was the bootleg that made me a fan of Prince's diverse musical styles and his unreleased music in general. So yeah, it's essential if you wanna dive into Prince's unreleased stuff. until then i'll pretend this fuchsia light is god...

The first outtake set I was introduced to was" Revelations 2.1" ,I was amazed, there was sooooo much music on ONE DVD! There's Joy in repetition

Same - I was sent a email out of nowhere from parties unknown. I sent what was asked of me and heaven was delivered onto me. This was all back in 2002 I believe. I'm not sure I would be as trusting now
I've noticed that a number of my former tracks are no longer accessible on that collection btw A robin sings a masterpiece that lives and dies unheard...

I think I know this set. I have the versions . Prince -Work it and Work 2.0 Prince's ivault - all have year folders from 1976 to 1999 and 2006/07 . Also some songs show the line (Prince 30 years), is this an earlier or later set. . The year folders are great, but there are a few mistakes here and there. The 1976 stuff is great as it includes his earliest demos and Moonsound outtakes. [Edited 5/20/15 17:21pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I recall it sounding exactly like the take from the 1984 Birthday Show, without any edits or overdubs... I could be wrong though, I haven't listened to it in ages. Happy to be corrected if so [Edited 5/21/15 0:07am]

My complain is that it doesn't have a good quality version of "In A Large Room With No Light"

Absolutely essential. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
