Excellent, this era was incredibly strong, too bad it was somehow overshadowed by the "war with Warner", and the silly -namechange.

Agreed. Unfortunately, image and era can change people's perceptions about the music. If Prince threw a curly wig on and a purple jacket, this would have been everybody's favorite

Yup! Even today, 20 years after its' release, I played it for friends who were jamming to this track and said it was badass. Has that '90s rap sound. Imagine the look on their faces when I told them it was "that girly singer Prince"

That era never really happened.

We got unfinished albums that had a lot more potential, contract disputes where contract filler albums like COME were released, cancelled projects like Undertaker, delay of TGE which ultimately lost it's momentum for the time... It's really sad cause like everyone said, after his artistic genius in the 80's, that late 93-late 94 era was probably his best.

Totally agree, but this is what made it so exciting at the time.

Every track that we heard, we collected from a bootleg source. Its a bit like now, and all the "leaks".

First it was the Paisley Park concert.

Then came the radio show playing a completly unreleased new album!

Followed by the accompaning Beautiful Experience videos.

Then there was Glam Slam Ulysses.!

So by the time that TGE abd Come were released, we were already up with the new track (or at least 80% of them). Hence why they were a bit of a let down.

It was a very exciting time to be a P fan. And because all the songs/videos were unreleased, as soon as someone got them, we would get together and watch them at a fellow P fan's place.

So great was the impact at the time, that here in Melb Aust, we started a fan club magazine called "7".

Of course we had to shut it down because P is a wanker, but......... thats another story.

Not even close. The Gold Experience barely went Gold (500,000) copies, and even in Alex Han's book, the tour was a commercial disaster...

oh really...

I saw the Gold Tour in Holland, Den Bosch march 1995... it was so exciting to hear the new music at the time..! A brilliant experince, imo.
