I have always admired certain celebrities for their dedication and discipline when it comes to physical fitness, including Prince. I´ve been working out since the mid 90s, maybe even a bit longer, and when I took the occasional break I could tell that something was missing.

From what I know, Prince often hit the gym during the Lovesexy tour and obviously while he was shooting Purple Rain, though the dance lessons may have helped his physique, too.

If you watch the Diamonds and Pearls VHS homevideo (or maybe it was the Gett Off VHS homevideo that came out in 1991) you can see a barbell in his Paisley Park office.

One (cheaply made) German biography once mentioned that he was very pleased with the workout machines and weights that people arranged for him to use during the German leg of the Lovesexy tour in 1988.

He also used to have a doctor backstage to administer vitamin b12 injections during shows, and of course he´s mentioned his healthy diet in many songs. There´s also a rather strong anti-drug and clean living message in many of his songs, although he also admits to drinking occasionally (or experimenting with substances, whether in songs or in interviews).

The man is pushing 60 and still looks amazing. No fat belly, no bald head, great physique, great stamina.

But some middle aged, out of shape folks here on the org expect him to do splits, jump from his piano and dance like there´s no tomorrow.

As far as I´m concerned, those gimmicks aren´t really necessarys anymore and , regardless of all the things we may like or dislike about him, I for one am glad to see him healthy and alive and in such good shape in this day and age.

I still remember the summer of 1984 and how much I loved When Doves Cry when it was released, and here we are in the year 2015 and Prince is still doing his thing and looking great and is healthy and alive.....and we, of course, too.

We should all take a breath and be grateful sometimes.
