Length of time with 3rd Eye Girl

Are you surprised at the length of time Prince has worked with/toured with 3rd Eye Girl?

I guess Prince likes to work with women.. I guess they inspire him in the process.... wink

But 3RdEyeGirl: their Plectrum album sure is garbage,

But as a live band I don't mind Ida, she is really great on bass.

The rest of 3rdeyegirl - well imo.... he should fire them and recreate a more funky "NPG" band, again.

Well he just needs 2 retire the whole NPG as of now, I think the direction he is in (well it has been like that for a loooooong time) is nothing connected to new Power soul

Toured? One city per month isn't a tour. I think he's back in recording rehab and only keeps 3EG because they know his music, so he can use them whenever he wants to play a date on the Let's Pretend We're Touring tour and that's easier than auditioning new musicians.

He toured with them for the Live Out Loud Tour in the spring of 2013. Also the Hit N Run shows in Europe in 2014, among several one-off shows throughout the last 2 years.

My guess is that they are probably a cheap band to tour with.

3 girls + Josh and a couple of others < Full NPG band with hornz.

BINGO! Shelby J is overpowering as a backup vocalist and her stage presence was bewildering considering how tight he keeps his bands. It is hard to stomach her "rap" on "Same Page Different Book", her chants during shows "PUT YOUR HANDS UP", "EVERYBODY ON THE 2 AND 4!", "NPG IN THE HOUSE". It was like watching and listening to Tony M just disguised a background singer. As far 3RDEYEGIRL, I love 3RDEYEGIRL as a backing band and as recording artists. I just think that 3RDEYEGIRL needs to broaden their repertoire to include Prince's rock songs in his vast catalogue in concert. Drop "Play That Funky Music" and play "Calhoun Square", "Computer Blue", "I'm Yours", "When You Were Mine" for their shows. These songs play to the band's strengths. Donna and Prince dueling each other on guitar is always a highlight and Hannah can really display her rock leanings in this context. If there was another 3RDEYEGIRL album, hopefully he would make the songs leaner and focus on tightening up the songwriting.

It might just be a different poster but still a bit strange I guess seen as most of his concerts usually say 'AND' or 'WITH' 3rdeyegirl

.

Yeah I'm surprised..because I can't imagine Prince doesn't know it's the least talented band he ever had.

So why does he stick with them, doesn't he have other options? hmmm

I've got no idea how a floor sweeper like Joshua Welton made it from handing out wrist bands to playing keys for Prince within a year.

How can Prince even tolerate the guy on stage...it beats me! neutral

Now they announced 3rdeyegirl as "special guest" for the Baltimore concert, Judith Hill may be the secret superstar? What's next?! disbelief
