Both would have fit very nicely on the Flesh. Voodoo Who is about 5 and a half minutes but ends upbruptly. Its basically a cover of Hendrix's "Villanova Junction" with some lyrics from Sade's "Is It A Crime". High Calonic is over ten minutes and the full jam

It really sounds like rehearsal as Prince is instructing the band during the song..

Yes, the quote from Is it a Crime? is great. The Sade album would have just been out at the time, and Promise was the IT album of late 1985. No wonder Prince is into it.

Funny that almost 20 years later, he was inspired by another song from that album, The Sweetest Taboo and recorded a song, S.S.T., based on that groove.

Really like High Calonic, it's in that melodic slow Madhouse style, like 17 and Parlor Games.

Finally a great new Prince track..... from 1985.

So this means that "Most Strongest Whiskey" must be out there somewhere as well, right? Everything else from "The Flesh" sessions has come out... A Couple of Miles, Voodoo Who, High Calonic, U Gotta Shake Something... hmm

.

.

.

Also, all the leaks in the past few years has just been mind-blowing to old-timers like me. I used to spend hours poring over my Per Nilsen's Prince book, wondering what the hell "Adonis & Bathsheba", and thought "Can I Play With U" was called "Red Riding Hood" for years... these are truly magical times. So thank you everyone making this possible!

So when did we ralize this is called "Most Strongest Whiskey" and not "Strongest Whiskey"? I noticed that princevault has that title now too, along with some information about the song - it's a cover. Makes me think it's about to leak too.... biggrin

Angelsoncrack

I read the title of this thread and it reminded me of this really weird parody someone made of Jem and the holograms where they made a song called 'Colonic' lmfao, very bottom of the barrel toilet humour.

Still haven't heard these songs yet though. I hope I can soon beg

High Calonic is an unreleased instrumental recorded on 28 December, 1985 during the so-called "Paisley Jam" session (that also produced Slaughterhouse, U Just Can't Stop, Run Amok, Mobile, Madrid, Breathlessand 12 Keys) at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA. The session was all improvised, and recorded with no breaks between tracks; track names were given afterwards by Eric Leeds as a way of more easily identifying the pieces of music. It is unknown if this track was intended for The Flesh album or any other project.

Prince Vault

Why is he sitting on this stuff? Nice jam. Wish I can pay him for hearing this stuff since we basically never would. Thank you whomever for its release!! I like High Calonic. it jams.

Whats strange about these 2 tracks is I heard they were first played at the legendary "Jungle Love 85" prom. But that was in May of 1985 and these were recorded in December of 85. Well, I gotta say those kids were way ahead of the game or on some serious shit.

This is wonderful -- do explain, I've been unaware of this legendary prom.

There's another thread on the subject... quite amusing. Remarkable "reporting" by Big Chick, who gets all the facts. biggrin
