Dream Purple Rain vinyl reissue boxset Okay here is my dream Purple Rain reissue package. A 10 7” or 10” vinyl set. Each A side will have a song from the original track list and B-side will have one or two unreleased songs. The 10th record would be a 12” with nothing but unreleased songs (hopefully the alternate Purple Rain that's 10 minutes long would be included. Below would be the corresponding vinyl color for each disc.
Let's Go Crazy – Dark Maroon Take Me With You – Lollipop Swirl (Orange and White) Computer Blue – Blue duh (Old School PC Screen Blue) Darling Nikki – Smoky Brown When Doves Cry – Cream white The Beautiful Ones – Dark Pink I Would Die 4 U – Neon Green Baby, I'm A Star – Yellow Glitter (with splatter colors from the other 8 7”) Purple Rain – A swirl combination of different purples
Bonus tracks (a picture disc of whatever new cover artwork for the box sest)
What do y'all think?

That would be pretty sweet. Not sure about the colour scheme, but having them all as singles would be cool. Probably not a lot of anything new for the avid collectors though whom will have most of these songs on original 7s anyway!
Is it the outtakes or the alternate cuts that we generally want to hear? I'd say the outtakes were removed for a reason, and don't add to the experience of PR as a movie \ album package.
Any alternate versions would compliment a 'suite' nicely. I'd would dare say that 90% of fans would rather just have great quality recordings on CD with a bonus of outtakes in whatever quality they come.
I personally would like a 4 LP set, remastered Side A & B of the original album, and Sides C & D of the other pinnacle tracks from the movie (and a little of the incidental music). The lure of having outtakes included would detract from the movie \ album experience a little, and would rather have them on a seperate CD release.
Side A & B as per original release Side C & D: Jungle Love The Bird Modernaire Sex Shooter God 17 Days Erotic City Another Lonely Christmas Father's Song Lips 2 Find U
Outtakes CD Roadhouse Garden Our Destiny Possessed Glamerous Life (Prince on vocals) Noon Rendezvous (W&L on vocals please??) Mutiny Do Yourself a Favour Extra Loveable Moonbeam Levels Purple Music Electric Intercourse Lust U Always Climax Gotta Shake This Feelin' (non rehearsal please??)
If i'm really lucky there will be a new 'concert' blu-ray of teverything played with the Aladdin NPG band (or really amazingly lucky with the Revolution) > with a DTS sound mix!
Yes, I think I'd be a pretty happy fan with all of that! Sound quality is critical as I can put this set together myself from various sources on my PC. I don't listen to most of it though these days as yearn for better quality! The dynamic range of the orignal CD is low, and the LP isn't much better to be fair.

That might be fun from a collector's perspective, but I have a couple sets that split albums up like this and I never listen to them. It's too much of a hassle to change the record after every song.

How many of these threads do we need? It ain't happening. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Tears For Fears put out a 6 cd box for "Songs from the Big Chair" last year. Why is it too much to ask Mr.Nelson to do the same, even after an agreement with Warner Bros. & a press release? Knob

Most of these are from 1999 or recorded after Purple Rain. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.
