The Return of The Purpleaxxe At the London KOKO show back in Feb...... I noticed that the PurpleAxxe was present on stage. Sadly, Prince didn't play it. But he obviously considered it. |

I forgot it even existed until you started this thread. Haven't seen that thing since the Diamonds & Pearls tour in 1992. [Edited 5/2/15 10:03am]

Then watch the Rave un2 the year 2000 DVD.
The PurpleAxxe was also present at the Emancipation promo concert at paisley park that was aired on TV. [Edited 5/2/15 11:14am]

What exactly was that thing anyway? I remember it had a distinct sound (which I loved and wished had been used more) and it was IIRC credited with a TM notice on the D&P cover (though I can't hear it anywhere on the album). So OK, it was basically a keyboard, but what made it so unique to Prince? Was it designed especially for him by some instruments company? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I believe it was called the Purpleaxxe Sampler, so maybe it held presets of previous work similar to what he's using now for the Sampler Set.

I am not an intellectual property lawyer, or patent clerk but I always thought the name and maybe the shape was trademarked. I never got the idea that it had anything underneath the hood that other keyboards did not have. In rave dvd does it does have that brassy clave sound which he pitch bends a lot in the get off solo. I liked it. Oh and while I am here, yes we all complain, but thank you to Prince and the org for being around.
