I Still Say 3121 is the Best Prince Album of the Last 20 Years

from 1996 to 2015

it has 5 stars material songs and many other 4 or 3,5 stars songs, no filler or at least no stinkers

a solid album and one of the best of the mid '00s, nº1 position well-deserved

the album also paved the way for Prince's APEX = the Superbowl performance

whoever dislikes this album is NOT a true Prince fan

Thius Superbowl per4mance is actually one of the very few Prince things that I truly despise, but I like 3121 a lot. Classifying things as "best" or "worse" has little meaning to me (it's a bit KG, no offense meant, just how I see it) so I won't go down that road, but it's an album I like a lot for its positive and somewhat smooth vibe, and it's very solid "mainstream Prince".

I do really like 3121.
Definitely an improvement
from Musicology.
Got some great songs.

gotta admit this one has grown on me in retrospect.

Lots of good quality latter day Prince on this one but the squeeeeee in Black Sweat is a fatal flaw and Incense and Candles is a bit embarassing.

A great album...not as good as AOA but a very solid album. I love that title track. My least fave track is Black Sweat for that annoying high pitch sound throughout the whole song...completely ruins it for me....and Fury as I remember hearing it live on SNL and had too high expectations. But over all very solid.

I would say its my 3rd fave of recent albums...AOA, Lotusflower, then 3121.

i agree, yeah. i like AOA fine, but this he hasn't matched this level in a while.

Black Sweat was one of his most inspired moments. when that came out, I truly thought a renaissance of Prince was about to happen.

Black Sweat and 3121 are good songs but not as good as Sticky Like Glue, Lavaux, and Walk In Sand, on 20Ten...and AOA beats up 3121 badly

LOL...Black Sweat does have that intrusive high frequency riff recurring thoughout the song ..ive managed to enjoy the song nonetheless...but i wouldnt have been mad if he had taken it out, like he did the WhenDovesCry bassline...

to be honest, Planet Earth might even be better than 3121...

3121 almost sounds like P is trying too hard..

kinda like Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic album, but worse...

3121 is his best album of the last 20 years, I totally agree.

When you compare it to all his other albums, Rave, Musicology, Rainbow Children, AOA, Plectrum, NPS, LotusFlower, etc...

3121 is the most complete. Personally FURY in my opinion is one of his best songs.

The Word

Fury

are two of his most UNDERATED SONGS that he has made in the last 20 years.

It actually is a great album.

Alot of promotion went into the record at that time.

It's a damn shame that "Black Sweat" didn't get a proper 12"/Maxi release with a badass

extended version!!!

The only thing we can grab from that is the "Versace" version.

He was on to something there with lotsa nastay bass.

It should've been that club smash.

But, like always, what happened???

"3121" is the '00's of "DOW"

Lolita!

Love! (acoustic is also great)

the "Fury" single was lacking the live rendition, sadly;(

I had totally forgotten about Prince, Rainbow Children was too much for me, but I got Musicology cheap, so when his new album came out, some of the old excitement came back and yeah, I liked it! I don't know if it's his best of the last 20 years, but it's in the top 3 with Lotusflow3r and ArtOfficialAge.

for the past 20 years my favorites are The Gold Experience, Lotusflower and Chaos and Disorder by a long gap to my next tier which includes The Rainbow Children, 3121 and Planet Earth

Incest and Candles is one of the crappiest songs that prince has ever released. I hate it with a passion.

The rest of the album is pretty good.

I actually prefer Musicology to 3121 but non of them are really good imo. AOA, Lotus and TRC are way better. But I enjoy Beautiful, loved and blessed, The Word and The Dance (but the original version is better) on 3121 and the SNL performance of Fury, don't really like the studio version

I prefer TRC... I'd say that was his best album in 28 years. cool

3121 has some great songs (Black Sweat, The Word) and it's a fun album all round, but that's about it.

3121 is a very strong album. I'd love to replace Black Sweat (which I love) with the superior Versace Experience version. I'd also take off Incense and Candles. But everything else is amazing. Fantastic!

3121 is my jam album and right up there with 1999.

Te Amo Corazón slows the album down a bit too soon and I move it to later in the playlist after Fury.
