I would never pay Prince cash up front for anything! Cash on delivery of masters only!!!! 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything. |

I believe it too, WB ain't playin no games with him and he's just taking his sweet time to save face like a kid doing a chore reeeaaal slow to feel all grown up. Until then, many older fans will steal because older fans can never steal back what they've spent. [Edited 4/21/15 12:08pm] |

The 'hacker' announced a new version of A 1000 Hugs and Kisses was going to be posted to the FB account. Confirmed to exist the next day by attendees at the Paisley Dance Party who said it was played that night. |

Those people who act as if there was a breach of contract because Prince has yet to deliver on the remasters when there was an announcement about it...
1. If you've been a Prince fan for any length of time, then you know he's no stranger to not doing the obvious commercial move.
2. Maybe take solace in the fact any censored remasters won't be released for now -- he's a JW now, it's his music and not much you cn do about it -- heavy case of be careful what you wish for, lest you get it.
3. While we have every right to think this music belongs to the world, it really belongs to him -- through his bad habits over the years, q uite a few tracks got released in okay quality and I'm afraid that's better than what you could expect from any new official remasters with Prince's imprimatur.

Are you sure this is the case? Several of the attendees were asked in the Concert forum thread about the Dance Party whether they played a new version of 1000 Hugs and Kisses and none of them seemed to remember hearing it. Do you have a source for this? Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Not a Jehovah's Witness. He just uses the label whenever someone tries to cut a deal with him for real Prince music, which is too much pressure and doesn't leave him enough options to screw them over later if he feels slighted. He's made a comfortable living selling a watered down version of what he was, while holding on to the option to deliver the real deal if hard times force him into it.

The question is: By the time he's forced to do it, how many people will still be interested?! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015 |

I say he doesn't follow the JW rules, so he isn't a JW. People around him have said it as well. I think he respects the faith and has incorporated some of their beliefs into his own, when backed into a corner he plays that JW card, but that's really about the extent of it.

1. He's signed a contract.
2. He's signed a contract which I'm sure does not include 'you can give us censored versions'.
3. He's signed a contract. Remasters do not automatically mean bonus tracks, but this was also mentioned in the press release.
Signed, sealed, and not yet delivered.

He has signed a contract with WB, not with his fans. Even if it's unlikely it authorized him to censor, I would not put it past him to decide that if those are his masters, then he can withold until he gets his wish. Withholding may be perfectly ok under the contract, we don't know. |

???????????? How the hell can one be a member of something without joining it? Prince, at best, was close to a couple of JW members. AT BEST. Yet he tells reporters he is a member, when it suits his needs. He apparentley said something similar to Warners and probably LiveNation as well if you go by the 'changed man' wording of some of the statements that came out last year. Prince's choice in fashion and tumultuous dealings with women, do not fit well into the practice of the Jehovah's Witness faith. Even if he was a member, he'd likely be thrown out for non-compliance. |

I also hope they do that and I think they will
why do people assume inaccurately that there is any breach of contract? There is not |

Just to answer one of these posters, a 1000 hugs and kisses was played before Christmas at paisley park. A reworked version does exist, don't know if it was played the other night though. |
