Ain't that a shame? i have a copy of jesse johnson's revue on vinyl that i just bought yesterday... Vinyl 12s and albums by Prince and associates that used to be hard to find are now showing up more often than they used to. That's because ppl who had been longtime fans are getting rid of their collections and rare Prince stuff is coming on the market.

Since Black people started recording music. They used to be called Race Records. Quite honestly, I don't care what category they put the man under, because he does many different types of music, so they may as well invent the Fusion category for him - and I don't mean Jazz Fusion. Romance 1600 is made in Germany, but I don't know if they still have it. Sad to see some of these great albums disappearing. i ordered Color Of Success fromBigStar in Adelaide here, they specialize more, dont just sell pop shit like ur HMV & Sanity. ***************************************************************************************

most common here in Adelaide are:
Hits/b*sides Controversy Purple Rain 1999 AroundtheWorldInADay D&P (tho its deleted now, luckily i got a replacement when it was on the 'deletions' rack a couple months ago) Rave TRC these r the ones i see at Sanity,or whatever... Parade & Emancipation pop up now & then... in Sydney u can get Lovesexy & the 1st 3 albums easier. & since my local 2nd hand guy (Fraser at Rocktherapy) knows i love prince,he now has a named prince section,he has BlackAlbum,Come & The Vault in there on CD,then a couple of albums on 12" from the 80s. i snagged Jerkout 12" there for $2 :wOOt: out of stock edit [This message was edited Sun Mar 23 23:02:24 PST 2003 by Joshy84au] ***************************************************************************************

Well, if that's the case, I have to disagree.
If Prince is nominated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, or very soon, HMV, the exclusive record store inside the lobby of the Rock Hall, will have EVERYTHING in the Prince catalog on display for purchase. I think I remember I was told by an employee at the Rock Hall of Fame that once an artist or band is selected for induction, their music is set asise and put into a separate Hall of Fame section and the entire back catalog would be made available for purchase.

The thing to remember is...
The wrecka stows don't take sides, they have no vested interest in Prince one way or another. They just supply what the majority of the general public want. If they're only stocking a handful of Prince albums, that means that the ones they're no longer stocking DON'T SELL enough to warrant keeping them in stock. They base their range on the hard facts of sales performance over time. You'll also notice that, with the exception of The Gold Experience, it's all the 'post warners' releases which are now deleted. If only Prince and WB could've sorted out their differences, I think Prince would still be in the public conciousness (whether or not he was having 'big hits' still). The main reason for Prince dropping under the radar is the total LACK OF SINGLE RELEASES. As far as the general public is concerned, Prince's last single was 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World', and that was a very long time ago! You cannot just release one single off your album and expect it to be a hit. Also, you HAVE to make a video. If you don't have your video played on MTV or VH1, then you ain't gonna have a hit.

When Prince was at the height of his success, many record stores in the UK used to stock his albums in both the Rock/Pop and Soul/R&B sections, because he was so hard to categorise. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

stores stocking Prince albums ebbs and flows. for a long time, there'll be about 5 CD's in his section. then 6 months later, there's 2-3 copies of everything.

Yes, I can relate. The local music stores' collection of Prince music usually consists of "The Best Of..." collections, maybe 1 "Rave Unto..." and once I saw a "Lovesexy" and "Purple Rain." Oh, and also, a copy here and there of "TRC". I usually have to go to a place called "Been Around Records" to find a larger variety. Ironically, this is where people go to sell albums they no longer want.
