A little positivity - Better With Time made me tear up Driving into work this morn. "Better with Time" came on....I had images of the beautiful Kristin Scott Thomas cir '86 and my 16 year-self so overwhelmed by her.
Then came the ending of that track "WHAT IS AGE BUT A CAGE...."
JFC...he can still write a great tune with meaningful adult lyrics when he's inspired.

you can find great songs on every prince album. The org is just full of jaded people who project that onto prince. I find it shameful.

Anyone who's met you agrees - I 'shoplifted' those lyrics for a card I gave a friend

That's the song on the radio that brought me back to Princeland... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Incredible song, that vocal delivery to the end of the song "...hair that frames that face ..." finishes it off beautifully. ----------
Lets just go somewhere (we can funk)

Beautiful song! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Are you kidding me? The ending is climatic! Too many people write Prince off; this song proves them wrong. klick

Hmmm.. that's a great idea. I think I might steal that as well next time I have to write a card for someone. Change it one more time..

Everything about that song is perfect....particularly the ending that builds to a crescendo. That's what music is missing now, the ability for musicians to emote....xcept for Alabama Shakes 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

This song has never really impressed me. I'm going to give it another listen based on this thread. It's always nice to have motivation to rediscover a forgotten tune. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I listened again. It's a snoozer. No real melody. Bland beat and production. Cliche lyrics. It hasn't gotten any better with time. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Lyrically this is perfection (by my standards for Prince), like he really took time to think of something meaningful for Kristen. When I first listened through MPLSound this one in my top 3 tracks. Classic ballad. Change it one more time..

Were you around during Under the Cherry Moon? Maybe its an old folks thing.
Its a really poignant take on nostalgia, time passing, how agiing affects you (particularly women in showbiz) and how some people in your life stick in your head for a long time even if you havent seen them in decades.

I was around, but I was only 8. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"
