Prince section in yo local wrecka stow.

I realised the other day how 'off the radar' Prince
had really become over the years. If you go into
your nearest large record store like Virgin or HMV
and have a look at the Prince section, you'll find
that apart from the various 'best of' albums, they
only stock 3 Prince albums!...

Purple Rain,
Diamonds And Pearls &
Sign O' The Times.

Most of his back catalogue is still available, but
you'd have to order it in specially, unless you go
to one of the REALLY big megastores,

Also the following albums are deleted;
The Gold Experience, Emancipation, Newpower Soul
& Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (and of course 'The
Black Album'...but that doesn't really count).
So the only way to get those albums now is
secondhand.

Is Rave Un2 really not available anymore? It used to always be at HMV, but I haven't seen it there for about four months.
Whenever I go to HMV they only have Purple Rain, Rainbow Children, and the hits.

Yep, Rave is now deleted.
Oh, and I forgot to mention The Rainbow Children,
is obviously available in stores as well at the
moment, but you'd probably have to order One Nite
Alone...Live in specially because it's an expensive
box set.

Get Crystal Ball too while you can.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Just go to Tower Records, they usually seem to have most of the Prince albums that haven't been deleted.I routinely see albums like 'New Power Soul' and 'Rave' at my local Tower store.Don't waste your time at those smaller stores that are in the malls. They only carry maybe three or four different titles.

Tower does seem to be the best. But I haven't bought music in a regular record store for ages. I'm not sure I've even bought NEW music for ages. Half.com for me.

Stores don't usually carry many Prince CDs. I started going to a used CD store and was lucky enough to find the Crystal Ball (4CDs). Although it was used, I still had to pay about $65 Canadian. SOTT has been difficult to find and it's next on my list.

How about Exodus, Goldnigga, The war and madhouse CDs???

Whaaat?!

Emancipation and Rave our out!?!?

Sheesh!

Do you think that maybe it's the record companies getting back at Prince!

No wonder he wants his masters back!

Now I got to go out and find them.

Gold should have never been deleted. I can understand maybe...New Power SOul...but Rave? It was a cool album and era!

Emancipation was Prince's freedom album! It goes like a story line to all his other albums. A career line! Oh well.

Never forget.
It's one thing to regret or repent of the past. Quite another to deny, downplay or alter the past.
Get them while you can.

I just felt like I had to say that on this thread.

Even at the larger CD stores, I still can't find Batman, Graffiti Bridge, For You, or Crystal Ball. With the exception of maybe four CD's, all of my Prince CD's have been bought at used CD stores.

I've seen many more than 3 titles by Prince in other record stores, including Tower. But Tower's prices in general are very high. If you want to get your money's worth only go when they have a sale on what you want.

Also, Circuit City and Best Buy have a lot of Prince cd's.I got the One Night Alone...Live boxed set at CC for $45.

where I am it's usually the associated artists that are hard to find. All of the following have to be on 'special order'(not to mention they're all almost $30)
Wendy & Lisa
W&L:fruit at the bottom
erocia
Morris Day:color of success
Shiela E.:the glamorous life
romance 1600
sheila E.

Really, you can STILL order these?

They must be imports.

Romance 1600 is made in Germany, but I don't know if they still have it.

Sad to see some of these great albums disappearing.

yep, you can still order them, they get it in about a week later. And yes, they're imports
A couple of months ago I had to replace my 'Wendy and Lisa' cd and I got the last one in stock.
And a couple of weeks ago I found out that it would take a good month to "the glamorous life"---Boy, did that put me in shock.
PLUS the Jesse Johnson albums are pretty hard to find (except his greatest hits colection)
Ain't that a shame?

Let me break it down for Prnce and prince-associated: (for where I am)

Prince-Tower is the best bet for cds

Wendy and lisa-have to be on special order

Morris Day-special order

Sheila E.-special order (except for 'sex cymbal'-that's basicly disappeared)

The Time-very easy to find

Jesse Johson-special order

And don't even bother to ask about andre Cymone, Vanity, Apollonia, The Family, Jill Jones--these are all impossible to find

And then there's this place called Odessy Records, that's where I usually go for vinyl (which they have a lot of) And I can find most of the special order stuff there---on vinyl (thank God I have a record player, sigh)

i just find it interesting that Prince is stocked in the R&B/Soul section. Oh, and so is Janet Jackson. It seems strange that two huge POP stars (hey, he may not be popular anymore but he's still a pop star) are put in the R&B section. When did the wrecka stow start filing based on race?

Today I was in Wherehouse music here in Houston and found the following Prince cd's some new and some used.

sign o the times, rave un2 the joyfantastic, many copies of crystal ball, the vault (old friends 4 sale), controversy, the hits/b-side, diamonds and pearls, graffiti bridge, dirty mind, emancipation, I was shocked. Ya'll KNOW I put them bad boys in the correct order, you just can't help yourself.
nod lol
I managed years back to buy all his cd's ,I have all the albums and 12" singles on vinyl up to graffiti bridge.
peace and pray
feel better, feel good, feel wonderful

Yes ,now you see what little man was talking about. You see Prince did not want to play their game so now we won't (take your pick)... a. sell your old music so you can get cash flow coming in on your hits.
b. sell your new music so new fans can be made.

c.play any of your music (new or old) on the radio or video channels.

d.elect you to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next year.

The conspiracy to eliminate Prince is working easier than planned.Mike you're next and when Madonna stops sucking & fucking or is too old ,she will be out there too.

Where are you in the middle of all this ?You the music fan is forced to listen to bullshit rappers and underdeveloped rockers and you think its the "second coming" because they have a video on MTV or BET.
