The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale or Chaos And Disorder Both intended as a bit of a throwaway in order to complete his final obligations under his WB contract, I find some fascination in comparing the two albums. Which album to you believe is superior?
For me personally, I love the attitude and rock edge of Chaos and Disorder. There are a few nice cuts on The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale but all in all, Chaos and Disorder gets my vote.

I like chaos because I can just kind of...shove it on, i like the whole rock edge to it too. As for Old Friends, apart from maybe the first two tracks, the album is really laid back and stuff and pretty melancholy in parts too. I have to give Chaos my vote but I really do like Old Friends 4 sale too.

I dig some songs more on c & D like the title track and stuff, but dig vault more as a whole. For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Old Friends 4 Sale. It's much more interesting musically. Chaos & Disorder has some great songs, but too many stinkers. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

The Vault OF4S has become one of my favorites of the 90s-- I like the organic, after-hours jazzy vibe, and, even with tracks taken from various years, it still works pretty well as a complete album.

Had they been released together I could easily have seen which I listened to most but they were released with a 3 years gap and my life and musical knowledge were entirely different between Summer 1996 (I was 19) and Summer 1999 (I was 22, life and people change quickly at that age), so I couldn't say. I listened to both to death. Overall I guess I have a little preference for TVOF4S because I'm more jazz than rock, and I guess overall I come back to it a little more often than C&D, but I love both albums deeply, and there's a special emotional attachment to C&D in the sense than to me it's strongly related to that summer of 1996 and my memories from back then, while for some reason TVOF4S isn't especially related to my late 1999 memories (that would be Rave).
