P SONGS YOU'VE ONLY HEARD ONCE AND NOW YOU'RE FIENDING FOR MORE! Have you ever heard a Prince jam just once and from that point on it had you fiending for more?
Back in 1997, we saw Prince in concert in Fresno, CA. He had an after party at a local club and the DJ was spinning a CD Prince's people gave him to play. Well, they started to play a remix of Jam of the Year and it was smoking hot! That was the first and last time I had heard it. Thing about it is; when the nite was through, his bodyguard at the time (bald, white dude) retrieved the CD from the DJ, only to drop it in front of a buddy of mine, who then picked it up and gave it back to him. I could've kicked him! I was like, "dude, you should have grabbed it and ran!". I have been feining ever since! What is the song you have heard only once? [Edited 3/30/15 11:14am] klick

I could have sworn I heard a badass remix of Mad Sex at Paisley Park one time. It was fantastic. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Purple & Gold Rich Friends PFunk Some of that instrumental stuff from the early 2000s. And I don't really feel the need to hear them again!

There is a Mad Sex "remix" floating around, but concensus is that it's a very good fan-made mix. "69 remix"? http://prince.org/msg/7/395134 As for the topic, I remember hearing Tom Joyner play "2morrow" around the release of Emancipation and really liking it. I was happy it ended up on Crystal Ball (97 version). Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

Maybe he means "fiending" for more... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Oh yes, I've looked that up and you must be right. Never heard of it, but it's slang.
I hád heard of 'dope fiend' though. Stop the Prince Apologists ™

Ok, ok, I fixed it. I Googled, "fiend" and "fein". Both are listed as actual words. But I have corrected it. [Edited 3/30/15 13:12pm] klick

Btw, on a somewhat related note didn't you say in a thread a couple of months back that the live versions of High era tracks you saw at Paisley Park sounded much better than the studio recordings? Do you know if any of the dates you attended on are circulating, that sounds quite intriguing (I've always thought quite a few of those Chocolate Invasion/Slaughterhouse tracks had potential but the production really didn't do them any favours.) Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

I remember hearing a Prince cover of Fight the Power at PP one night (probably around 99 or so). It was great (at least from what I remember, which admittedly, is not much).

I'm guessing he used politer words to describe his feelings about Elvis & John Wayne! "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

I was assuming love5oneanother was referring to the Isley's track, but you've got me intrigued now! Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Ha! It actually was the Public Enemy song. I don't remember how the language was handled, but from the era, I would guess BlackCandle is right.
There are so many of those nights where you'd hear a song you'd never heard before and never hear again. My memory for those sorts of things has never been great and I didn't realise until much later how unlikely it was that I would ever hear that material again.
